Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video builds its comedy around an awkward, high-stakes hook: a newly married couple scramble to recover a stolen private video CD before the loss damages their relationship or reputation. It is a premise with room for farce, embarrassment and escalating complications. The difficulty is sustaining that engine across a feature-length story without making every turn feel like another bid for a laugh.

What is Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video about?

Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, this 2024 Hindi comedy stars Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri as newlyweds caught up in the disappearance of a private video CD. Rotten Tomatoes describes the theft as putting their relationship and reputation at risk; the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) similarly says the couple worry about their reputation after a video of their wedding night goes missing. The setup turns a private embarrassment into a public scramble, giving the story a clear comic problem to chase.

That hook also sets a demanding test for the film: each complication needs to grow naturally from the couple’s attempt to recover the CD, rather than simply extending the embarrassment for another round of jokes. The Indian Express review argues that the film does not consistently meet that test. Its headline calls the film sluggish and criticizes its reliance on cheap jokes, and the review’s search-result summary says it found only a small number of lines amusing. That is one publication’s assessment, not a measure of critical consensus.

Does the comedy work?

The title promises a broad comic ride, but broadness alone is not the issue. Farce can thrive on a simple premise when each new obstacle sharpens the stakes or reveals something about the people involved. Here, the central situation has an obvious source of tension—two people trying to protect their private life and reputation—but the Indian Express review’s complaint about sluggish pacing points to a risk: the premise may not generate enough momentum to make its comic detours feel earned.

The same distinction applies to the jokes. A comedy can be deliberately crude or awkward and still feel purposeful; the question is whether its humor develops the characters and the predicament, or merely leans on the sensitivity of the subject. The Indian Express’s criticism suggests the latter is a problem for at least one reviewer. Without treating that judgment as universal, it is a useful expectation to set: viewers looking for carefully calibrated, character-led comedy may find the film’s broad approach less appealing than those open to a more exuberant farce.

What to expect from the cast and ensemble

Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri lead the film, with Vijay Raaz also listed among the stars by the BBFC. The premise gives its newlyweds the central emotional and comic burden: their response to the missing CD has to make the audience care about the consequences as well as the chaos. The available review evidence does not establish detailed, scene-by-scene judgments about the performances, so it would be misleading to claim that either lead—or the supporting ensemble—rescues or sinks the film.

Runtime, release date and content guidance

The film’s listed theatrical release date is 11 October 2024. Its runtime is reported differently by two sources: the BBFC lists 149 minutes 15 seconds, while Rotten Tomatoes gives 2 hours 25 minutes. Neither source explains the difference, so the figures should be understood as source-specific listings rather than silently treated as identical.

The BBFC flags sexual references, horror, language and suicide-related content. Its classification information also mentions brief horror and references to sexual violence and suicide. These notes are useful for viewers deciding whether the film’s material is suitable for them; they do not require revealing further plot details.
