What changed in Vera Wang’s hairstyle?
Wang’s usual long hair was replaced by a shoulder-length style with fringe bangs. E! News described the change as a new hair look, while Vogue Taiwan characterized the bangs as very short. Neither account gives a precise cut technique or explains how the style was created.
E! News’ May 6, 2025, Met Gala coverage and Vogue Taiwan’s event coverage both reported the shorter hairstyle. The available accounts do not establish whether Wang wore a wig, nor do they identify a stylist, products, or a routine behind the look.
How did the hairstyle fit her Met Gala appearance?
Wang attended the gala in New York on May 5, 2025. The evening’s theme was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” drawn from the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, according to the Associated Press’ May 5, 2025, event report.

E! described her outfit as a feather-covered white dress with a plunging neckline, paired with dark sunglasses. Against that striking ensemble, the shoulder-length cut and short fringe gave her familiar red-carpet image a distinctly different outline.
Was Vera Wang 74 or 75 at the 2025 Met Gala?
Coverage differs: E! News called Wang 75, while Vogue Taiwan described her as 74. The accounts therefore do not establish a single uncontested age for her on the event date. The hairstyle itself is more consistent across the reports: shoulder-length hair with fringe, contrasting with her signature long look.
