Brooklyn said his mother took over a dance he expected to share with his wife; wedding DJ Fat Tony later described a stage call and an awkward moment. The viral clips are comic re-creations, not verified footage of the dance.
What Brooklyn Beckham said about the wedding dance
In Instagram statements in January 2026, Brooklyn Beckham described a rift with his parents and alleged that Victoria Beckham took over a dance he expected to have with Nicola Peltz at their April 2022 wedding. As reported by The Associated Press, he said: “She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.” That is Brooklyn’s account of how the moment felt to him, not an independently established finding about what occurred.
The phrase “wedding dance hijack” is shorthand for Brooklyn’s allegation and the online jokes that followed. It should not be read as a neutral or settled description of the event.
What wedding DJ Fat Tony recalled
Speaking to ITV News on January 23, 2026, wedding DJ Fat Tony recalled Marc Anthony calling Brooklyn onto the stage and then inviting Victoria forward as “the most beautiful woman in the room.” Tony said Nicola left crying and described the moment as awkward. He also clarified that when he had called it “inappropriate,” he meant the timing.

Tony’s account offers a separate recollection of a stage call and the atmosphere around it; it does not establish every detail of the dance or resolve the disagreement. On ITV’s This Morning, as reported by ITV News, Tony said: “This is all about how Brooklyn feels. If he felt it was inappropriate and awkward, then it was inappropriate.”
Why the memes took off—and what they show
Social users responded with jokes and parody clips, using scenes from unrelated shows and entertainment to imagine the wedding moment. Know Your Meme documents examples of this trend. Cosmopolitan also reported that Fat Tony posted a clip from Motherland captioned “POV: Victoria Beckham during Brooklyn’s first dance.”

Those clips are not recordings of the wedding. They show how people chose to joke about the story, not what happened on the dance floor. Captions such as “Victoria Beckham hijacking Brooklyn’s first dance” likewise reflect meme shorthand, not independent evidence.

- Brooklyn’s account: His public statement describes his expectations, feelings and allegation about the dance.
- Fat Tony’s recollection: The DJ describes a stage call and an awkward moment, and explains that his use of “inappropriate” referred to timing.
- The viral clips: The cited examples are parody or imagined scenes, not primary evidence of the wedding event.
