Usher and Apple Music released the official trailer for the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show on January 12, 2024. The roughly minute-long teaser set his 2004 hit “Yeah!” against a montage of fans and performers singing the song and footage spanning Usher’s life and career, ending with the line: “One performance. 30 years in the making.”
What happens in the “Yeah!” trailer?
The teaser uses “Yeah!”—Usher’s 2004 No. 1 hit featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris—as the thread connecting its scenes. A marching band, a church choir and fans perform or sing along, while archival footage follows Usher from childhood through different stages of his career. LeBron James, J Balvin and Jung Kook also appear. ABC News described LeBron as reciting the chorus in the trailer.

The video’s closing card reads: “One performance. 30 years in the making.” That line frames the halftime appearance as a milestone in a career rather than simply a showcase for one hit.
Why does the trailer say “30 years in the making”?
The phrase points to the span of Usher’s career. ABC notes that he released his self-titled debut album in 1994; the trailer arrived in 2024, roughly three decades later. “Yeah!” supplies a recognizable stop along that timeline: the song was a No. 1 hit in 2004 and is associated with his album Confessions.

The trailer does not suggest that “Yeah!” itself took 30 years to make. It uses the song as a centerpiece within a broader career retrospective.
How the trailer differs from “Where’s Usher?”
The January trailer is a retrospective montage. It should not be confused with “Where’s Usher?”, a separate Apple Music short film covered by ABC News on February 8, two days before the game. That film uses a Las Vegas search plot: a group of stars look for Usher ahead of his performance. Its listed cast included Lil Jon, Taraji P. Henson, Ludacris and Tim Cook.

How the trailer connected to the halftime performance
Super Bowl LVIII took place on February 11, 2024, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Usher’s Apple Music-sponsored halftime show lasted approximately 13 minutes, according to the Associated Press. The set included “Caught Up,” “U Don’t Have to Call,” “Superstar,” “Love in the Club,” Alicia Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You” flowing into “My Boo,” “OMG” and “Yeah!” Lil Jon and Ludacris joined him for “Yeah!”—bringing the trailer’s central song into the live performance.
Before the game, Usher told the Associated Press that fitting his catalog into the allotted time was difficult: “The hardest part is trying to figure out how to squeeze it all in when you actually have a large catalog, or a lot of records people celebrate and love.”
