On the June 17, 2024 episode of WWE Raw, Uncle Howdy returned with a group WWE calls The Wyatt Sicks and closed the show by wrecking the backstage area and attacking Chad Gable and production personnel. That closing segment was the faction’s first on-screen arrival. Its first in-ring match came seven weeks later, on August 5, 2024, so the word “debut” in this headline refers to a television appearance, not a wrestling match.
What aired on June 17, 2024
WWE’s official results recap dates the episode to June 17, 2024. It says Uncle Howdy came back after months of cryptic messages, this time alongside what WWE calls his “sinister friends.” The segment is labeled “Uncle Howdy and his friends made their gory return” and WWE lists its length at 05:25.
- Placement: the final segment of Raw on June 17, 2024.
- Damage: the group destroyed the backstage area.
- Targets: Chad Gable and production personnel.
- Runtime: 05:25, as listed in WWE’s 2024 recap.
Why “debut” needs a qualifier
The headline uses “debut” in the way WWE does for the group’s first appearance on television. The faction’s first match is a separate milestone, and the two are easy to confuse. The table below separates them.
| Milestone | Date | What happened | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| First on-screen appearance | June 17, 2024 | Closing segment of Raw; backstage area wrecked, Chad Gable and production staff attacked | WWE official results recap |
| First in-ring match | August 5, 2024 | Erick Rowan, Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis beat Chad Gable and The Creed Brothers on Raw | WWE official results recap |

How WWE frames it
WWE’s official YouTube channel posts the full segment under the title “The Wyatt Sicks make destructive debut.” That is the official framing of the June 17 appearance as the faction’s debut. A viewer searching for the match should look for the August 5 Raw results instead.

“From a technical aspect, it’s like what, an over five minute, one shot, tracking shot, with like so many elements to it and I watched it back and I really can’t believe like how great the team did on it.”

How the return was teased
The same Sports Illustrated report says Fee and Dallas discussed bringing Howdy back through QR-code clues. They modeled the approach on the one used around Bray Wyatt’s 2022 WWE return. Fee said:

The first match, August 5, 2024
The faction’s first in-ring match took place on Raw on August 5, 2024, according to WWE’s official results recap. Erick Rowan, Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis wrestled Chad Gable and The Creed Brothers, with Uncle Howdy watching from the side. The Wyatt Sicks won.
That gap matters for anyone describing the group’s history. The faction was on television for seven weeks before it wrestled, and its first match was built on the June 17 arrival rather than replacing it.
