Rapper Tyga announced the death of his mother, Pasionaye Nicole Nguyen, in an Instagram tribute reported on February 21, 2025. The post gave her date of death as January 18, 2025, and its headline line, “Can’t imagine life without you by my side,” is the phrase most outlets quoted. No cause of death was disclosed in the coverage.
What Tyga announced
Tyga shared the tribute on Instagram, and entertainment outlets picked it up the same day. Just Jared and a republication of People both reported the announcement on February 21, 2025, and VIBE, syndicated through Yahoo Entertainment, ran its own report that day. Hits Culture followed in February 2025. All of these reports describe the same post, so the core facts below rest on several outlets rather than one.
The wording of the tribute
The line most often quoted is short: “Can’t imagine life without you by my side.” Just Jared also reported a longer passage from the same post:
“You were the best and most supportive person in my life, you always made things better when I felt at my lowest and worst.”
