triple j’s One Night Stand came to Busselton, Western Australia, on Saturday 24 May 2025, with Perth-area band Spacey Jane topping the bill at Barnard Park on Wardandi Boodja. It was a one-day, all-ages event, and it was a single stop on a series that moves to a new regional town each year. The 2026 edition has since been announced for Griffith, New South Wales, so Busselton is a past host, not the current one.

What the event was
triple j’s official announcement framed the Busselton show as One Night Stand’s return to Western Australia after nearly a decade. ABC News describes One Night Stand as an annual regional concert, so the format is a free-standing, one-day gig built around a single regional town rather than a festival that stays in one place. For this edition, the announced lineup was:
- Spacey Jane (headline)
- LUUDE
- Ruby Fields
- 3%
- Blusher
- Velvet Trip
- Fool Nelson, the Busselton act that won the triple j Unearthed competition
Fool Nelson’s inclusion was the most locally specific part of the bill. It gave a Busselton band a slot on the same stage as the national acts, which is the kind of opportunity the regional format is designed to create.

The post-event figures, and what each one measures
Several numbers were published after the day. They come from different ABC reports and measure different things, so they should not be added together or read as a single count of people.
| Figure | What it measures | Source and year |
|---|---|---|
| More than 15,000 attendees | People at the event | ABC, 2025 |
| 15,000 tickets sold in less than six hours | Ticket allotment sold during the on-sale; described as the fastest sellout in the event’s 20-year history | ABC South West WA, 2025 |
| More than $230,000 raised for charity partners | Money raised for the designated charities | ABC, 2025 |
| 30% increase in triple j web and app streams on event day | Online streaming activity on the broadcaster’s platforms, compared with the usual baseline | ABC, 2025 |
| Eight South West teenagers trained | Young people who took part in music-industry training connected with the event | ABC South West WA, 2025 |
The attendance figure is “more than 15,000,” and the ticket figure refers to the allotment that sold out. The two are close, but they are separate measures, and the ABC reports do not reconcile them.

Charity partners and the fundraising design
The announced tickets were priced at $15 plus booking fees, and the proceeds were designated for four organisations:
- Support Act, a music-industry charity
- The Push, a music-industry charity
- Undalup Association, a local organisation
- Karri Karrak Organisation, a local organisation
Spelling of the last name varies between sources. The triple j announcement uses “Karri Karrak Organisation,” while the ABC post-event release uses “Karri Karrack Aboriginal Corporation.” Use the name as it appears in the source you cite, or check the organisation’s current preferred name before standardising it.

The regional and training angle
ABC South West reported that the all-ages event brought young Western Australians to Busselton, and that The Push trained eight local teenagers in audio engineering, social media, video production and radio broadcasting. The same report placed the day inside a wider conversation about keeping regional live-music opportunities alive, rather than treating the show as a one-off concert.
Spacey Jane’s Caleb Harper, quoted by ABC News in 2025, put the case in personal terms: “It’s a really beautiful thing and I think more artists should get out in small towns and regional areas and play shows.”
triple j’s Head of triple j, Double J and ABC Country, Lachlan Macara, struck a similar note in the ABC’s post-event release:
“What a day! And what an undeniable display of both the calibre of artists this country produces and the appetite for live Australian music in the regions. A number of the artists on this year’s bill grew up in regional towns and had formative experiences at past editions of triple j’s One Night Stand. We can only hope there were plenty of young people on that oval on Saturday equally inspired to feature in a future One Night Stand.”

Listening back
The ABC’s program listings include a recorded Busselton episode of Live at the Wireless with tracks by Spacey Jane and other performers. Availability on ABC platforms can change, so check the program page before relying on it as a listening option.
Where the series goes next
Busselton was the 2025 host. The ABC has since announced the 2026 One Night Stand for Griffith Showgrounds in Griffith, New South Wales, on Saturday 5 September 2026. Readers searching for a future Busselton show should look at the current triple j announcement rather than assume the town will return on a set schedule.
