Donald Trump used the word “beautiful” about Giorgia Meloni in two documented 2025 exchanges, but the remarks were not the same kind of compliment. At the White House in April, he was reacting to how her Italian remarks sounded. At the Gaza Peace Summit in October, he explicitly praised her appearance.
Did Trump call Giorgia Meloni beautiful?
Yes. In October 2025, Trump directly called the Italian prime minister “very beautiful.” An earlier White House exchange also included the word, but Trump clarified that he meant her remarks in Italian sounded beautiful—not that he was commenting on her appearance.
What did Trump say at the White House in April 2025?
On April 17, during a White House meeting and exchange with reporters, Meloni spoke in Italian. The official transcript records Trump saying, “I—that sounded absolutely—that was so beautiful.” He immediately clarified: “No, I mean, it sounded great,” and added that it was “beautifully presented.” The context and clarification point to her speech, rather than her looks. What did Trump say about Meloni at the Gaza summit?
On October 13, 2025, at the Gaza Peace Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, Trump praised Meloni’s appearance. ANSA’s English report quotes him as saying: “She’s very beautiful. If you say that, it’s the end of your political career, but I’ll say it anyway because it’s true.” He then praised her as “an incredible and highly respected leader.” ANSA’s same-day report is the source for this wording; it is a news report’s English rendering, not an independently verified verbatim English transcript.

Was this a repeated appearance compliment?
Not on the evidence of these two exchanges. Both contain the word “beautiful,” but the April transcript ties it to the sound and presentation of Meloni’s Italian remarks. The October report clearly describes a compliment on her appearance. Saying Trump called her beautiful “more than once” is accurate only with that distinction.
What happened to the relationship afterward?
The later public relationship is separate from what the 2025 remarks meant. The Associated Press reported a deterioration in Trump–Meloni relations by June 2026, amid disagreements over Italy’s position on the Iran war and Trump’s claim that she sought a G7 photo with him.
