This is a spoiler-heavy editorial ranking of the strongest characters in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. It follows a late light-novel reading of the story and uses a fan-proposed order as its starting point. Treat that order as one debatable reading, not an official power hierarchy and not a fact the author has confirmed. The ranking assumes you have read the light novels or accept late-story spoilers.
What “strongest” means in this list
“Strongest” can mean three different things, and each produces a different list:
- Peak strength: the strongest form a character reaches at any point in the story.
- Strength at the latest point covered: how characters compare once the story has reached its most recent material, which is the scope used here.
- Strength by the anime’s endpoint: a narrower cut that stops where the anime stops, and which leaves out light-novel developments.
This article uses the second meaning. It does not claim to have fixed a single canonical endpoint for the light novels, so the list should be read as a snapshot of late-story material rather than a permanent verdict. An anime-only ranking would not be the same list.
The fan-proposed top ten
The order below comes from one fan discussion about volume 23 of the light novels, posted to the r/TenseiSlime thread “Volume23.” The thread asks for a “definitive ranking” of the strongest characters, and its commenters dispute the order. It is a fan proposal, not an authoritative series statement.

The official roster at ten-sura.com/character confirms that most of these names are central to the franchise. It is a list of characters, not a ranking, and it says nothing about who is stronger than whom. The three names marked as not confirmed were not found on that page; that does not mean they are minor or absent from the story.
Why the order is contested
- Commenters in the same fan thread disagree about placements, so the order is one voice in an ongoing argument rather than a consensus.
- A separate secondary ranking on Epicdope’s “Who is the strongest character in Reincarnated As a Slime?” uses a different order and includes Veldanava, who is absent from the fan top ten. The difference reflects different inclusion rules and placement choices, not a newer fact about the story.
- Neither source includes a published feat-by-feat comparison, so neither settles which character would win a matchup.
How to judge the placements yourself
A placement is only as strong as the evidence behind it. Judge each character against four questions:

- Scope: Is the claim about peak form, late-story form, or the anime endpoint? A character can rank high on one scope and low on another.
- Demonstrated performance: Which opponent did the character face, and what was the outcome? A single win against a weaker foe supports less than a clear result against a comparable one.
- Conditions: Did the strongest ability need setup, outside support, a special form, or unusual circumstances? Those conditions should lower confidence in a ranking that assumes them away.
- Certainty: Is the outcome shown on the page, or is it fan inference about an unresolved matchup? Inference should be labelled as inference.
The fan proposal does not itemize these details for each character, so its placements are best read as editorial judgment. If you want to test them, pick one placement, find the scene that shows the character’s strongest result, and check its conditions against the four questions above.

The late-story material this ranking depends on is in the light novels. A Wikipedia character list for the series records the published light-novel series and its first volume, which is a useful bibliographic starting point. This article did not check current retailer listings, formats, or stock, so confirm those with your preferred seller before buying.

The fan top ten is a defensible reading of the late light-novel scope, but it is not the only one. Its value lies in the debate it starts. Rank the characters yourself only after you have tied each placement to a specific scene, opponent, and condition.
