The set is reported at 224 pieces and US$24.99, with a June 1, 2026 release date. Those figures come from Tformers, a Transformers specialist site, and LEGO’s own product page for 40924 had not been confirmed when this article was prepared. Treat them as reported details, not confirmed LEGO specifications.
What the reveal shows
Set 40924 is a BrickHeadz build, the stylized, large-headed LEGO figure format, not one of the larger LEGO Icons display sets. The reporting describes a two-form model: a robot mode and an alternate vehicle mode. The figures are described with decorated eyes and Decepticon logos, which is the detail that most clearly marks the build as a Decepticon rather than a generic Transformers figure.

How it differs from LEGO Icons Soundwave (10358)
Readers often connect this reveal with LEGO’s Soundwave set. The two are different products in different lines. LEGO’s official material calls Soundwave the first Decepticon in the LEGO Icons Transformers lineup. Set 10358 is larger, more expensive, and built for an adult audience.
| Feature | Megatron, set 40924 | Soundwave, set 10358 |
|---|---|---|
| Line | LEGO BrickHeadz | LEGO Icons Transformers |
| Characters included | Megatron (robot and vehicle forms) | Soundwave, Ravage, and Laserbeak |
| Transformation | Robot to alternate vehicle form (reported) | Robot to cassette-player mode, converted manually (LEGO catalog) |
| Sound or display features | Decorated eyes and Decepticon logos (reported) | Sound brick with voice and sound effects (LEGO catalog) |
| Piece count | 224 (Tformers, 2026) | 1,505 (LEGO US retail catalog, 2025) |
| Intended age | Not stated in the reporting | 18+ (LEGO US retail catalog, 2025) |
| Price | US$24.99 (Tformers, 2026, US) | US$189.99 catalog price (LEGO US retail catalog, 2025) |
The two prices and piece counts cannot be compared as like-for-like products. The Soundwave figures are from a 2025 catalog, and the Megatron figures are from a 2026 report on a set that had not been confirmed by LEGO at the time of writing.

What LEGO says about Soundwave’s design
LEGO’s designer interview for Soundwave describes the cassette window as an early engineering focus, and says the conversion process is based on the original toy. Designer Áron Gerencsér is quoted in that interview: “The conversion process is directly based on the way the original toys convert, so even as you go from one mode to the next, the legs, the arms, the head all fold away much the same way.” The same interview says Soundwave “went through roughly 30 iterations.” These remarks apply to Soundwave only. No named designer quote about the Megatron set was found in the reporting.
What is confirmed and what is not
- Confirmed by LEGO: the Soundwave 10358 catalog details (1,505 pieces, 18+, US$189.99 catalog price, and its three characters). These are catalog-era figures from 2025, not current prices.
- Reported by Tformers only: the Megatron 40924 name, 224 pieces, US$24.99, the June 1, 2026 release date, and the robot and vehicle forms.
- Not established: the current price, stock status, regional listings, and intended age of set 40924. No official LEGO product page for 40924 was available to confirm the Tformers details.
How to check set 40924 before you buy
- Search LEGO’s official website for the number 40924. Confirm that the product name reads “BrickHeadz Transformers Megatron Robot & Vehicle.”
- Check the piece count on the official listing against the reported 224 pieces.
- Compare the listed price with the reported US$24.99. Prices vary by country, and a US figure does not carry over to other regions.
- If the set is not listed, search for the alternative wording “LEGO Megatron set 40924” or “Megatron Robot & Vehicle.” Retailers may list it under a different title.
Until an official listing confirms the set, the reported launch should be treated as a plan rather than a confirmed release.
