The “heading home” announcement refers to a separate North American home-video release: Crunchyroll included a limited-edition Blu-ray/DVD in its September 2024 slate, with a scheduled date of September 10, 2024. Those are different territory editions, and the Japanese specifications below should not be read as specifications for the North American set.
What “heading home” means
Crunchyroll News listed TRIGUN STAMPEDE in its September 2024 North American home-video slate and identified a limited-edition Blu-ray/DVD scheduled for September 10, 2024. The announcement is the North American release story behind the headline; it was not the first Blu-ray release of the series. Crunchyroll’s September 2024 Home Video Slate is the relevant announcement.

The available Crunchyroll page does not establish the North American edition’s disc count, episode distribution, language tracks, video format, extras, price, or present availability. Confirm those details against a current product listing before choosing a copy. In particular, the Japanese release information below does not fill those gaps.
The Japanese Blu-ray came out in three volumes in 2023
TOHO’s official announcement dated January 7, 2023, described three Japanese Blu-ray volumes, each priced at ¥9,900 including tax (¥9,000 before tax) at announcement. The listed release dates, catalog numbers, and contents were:
#1 Best Overall
- Behind-The-Scenes Production Cast Interviews
- CG Making-of Video
- Promo Videos
- Commercials / Teaser
- Textless Opening and Ending Songs
| Japanese volume | Release date | Catalog number | Episode coverage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vol. 1 | April 19, 2023 | TBR33045D | Episodes 1–4 |
| Vol. 2 | May 17, 2023 | TBR33046D | Not stated in the cited announcement |
| Vol. 3 | June 21, 2023 | TBR33047D | Not stated in the cited announcement |
Each Japanese volume was described as a main disc plus a bonus CD. TOHO listed 1080p High Definition video, a 16:9 widescreen presentation, Japanese linear PCM 2.0 stereo, and dual-layer BD50 media. Those are specifications for the Japanese volumes, not confirmed specifications for the North American Blu-ray/DVD. See the official Japanese Blu-ray announcement and product information.
What is included in Japanese Vol. 1
The official Vol. 1 product page identifies episodes 1–4 and an audio commentary. Its first-press limited edition includes an illustrated digipak, leaflet, sticker, and the “TRIGUN STAMPEDE” Original Soundtrack BD vol.1 CD. The page also lists a textless opening as a video extra. The Japanese release announcement says all three volumes have audio commentary; Vol. 2 adds making footage, while Vol. 3 lists making footage and a textless ending.
Rank #2
- New to pre-order Anime
The Vol. 1 page names Amazon, TOHO animation STORE, and Animate as participants in a preorder-bonus promotion. That offer was limited by deadline and stock, so the listing is historical rather than evidence of an active bonus. TOHO also says bonus contents and product specifications may change without notice. It states that after first-press limited-edition stock is exhausted, the product switches to a standard edition containing only the main program and video extras. Neither notice establishes what stock is available now.
How to compare the Japanese and North American editions
The available information supports a limited comparison, not a verdict about which is the better buy. The Japanese editions have documented format and Vol. 1 contents; the North American slate announcement confirms the territory release framing, date, and limited-edition label, but not the detailed product specifications.
