Trevor Bolder, the Hull-born bassist who played with David Bowie’s Spiders From Mars and Uriah Heep, died in May 2013 at 62. The assignment’s original “Dead at 61” wording is incorrect: Uriah Heep gives his birth date as June 9, 1950, and Bowie’s official tribute and contemporaneous reporting give his age at death as 62.
How old was Trevor Bolder when he died?
Bolder was 62 when he died in May 2013, after a long fight with cancer, according to David Bowie’s official tribute and Uriah Heep’s statement. The sources do not specify the type of cancer. Uriah Heep’s biography lists his birth date as June 9, 1950; The Guardian’s contemporaneous report was published May 21, 2013.

What bands did Trevor Bolder play in?
Uriah Heep
Bolder joined Uriah Heep in 1976. He remained with the band, apart from a short break, until ill health led him to step back in early 2013. In the band’s statement, guitarist Mick Box called him a “‘World Class’ bass player, singer & songwriter” and “a World Class friend.”
Other projects
Uriah Heep’s statement also names Wishbone Ash, Cybernauts, and The Rats among Bolder’s other projects. Born in Hull, England, he built a career across bands as both a bassist and a musician who contributed as a singer and songwriter.
