Transformers One is an animated origin story about Optimus Prime and Megatron before they became sworn enemies. Its central pair are known as Orion Pax and D-16, and Paramount describes them as friends whose bond ultimately breaks. The film presents them at an earlier point in their lives; official sources do not say they are literally teenagers or give their ages.
What is Transformers One about?
Paramount calls Transformers One “the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever.” The story goes back to a time before their familiar identities and conflict.
Paramount+ names those earlier identities as Orion Pax and D-16, describing the film as the origin story of “Orion Pax (young Optimus Prime) and D-16 (young Megatron).” The premise is a shift from brothers-in-arms to sworn enemies, not simply a story about two characters who have always been rivals.
Are Optimus Prime and Megatron friends in Transformers One?
Yes. The official premise says they were once friends bonded like brothers. Orion Pax and D-16’s relationship changes over the course of the origin story, leading toward the enmity associated with Optimus Prime and Megatron. The official descriptions establish that broad arc, but do not specify every cause or turning point.

Why are Optimus Prime and Megatron young in the trailer?
The younger framing serves the origin-story premise: the film goes back to Orion Pax and D-16 before they become the figures known as Optimus Prime and Megatron. “Teens” works as a headline hook, but it should not be read as an official age description. Paramount and Paramount+ provide no numeric ages and do not establish that either character is literally a teenager.
