“Nightingale” has the ingredients of a particularly strong Tracker episode: a missing-person case tied to a violent crime, a search that can put Colter’s tracking skills at the center, and a target whose survivalist nature reflects his own. That combination makes this Season 2 episode a persuasive example of the kind of story the series should tell more often.
What “Nightingale” is about
CBS identifies “Nightingale” as Tracker Season 2, Episode 10, dated February 23, 2025. The episode follows Colter after he is hired to find a missing singer connected to a violent crime. His search leads to a target described as a stoic survivalist much like Colter himself. That official setup gives the case both an immediate mystery and a personal point of comparison.
The episode runs 43 minutes and carries a TV-14 V,L rating on CBS’s listing. For viewers in the United States, CBS identifies Paramount+ as the streaming service for the episode, with a subscription required; availability and terms may change.
Why this is the kind of case Tracker should keep telling
A missing-person search gives the story a clear engine
Colter’s work is most distinctive when the case is something he has to pursue, not merely a problem to hear about. A missing singer gives the story a concrete objective, while the link to a violent crime raises the stakes beyond locating someone who has disappeared. The premise naturally invites the audience to follow the investigation alongside Colter.

That is a strong fit for the series because it connects the practical question—where is the missing person?—to the danger surrounding the search. The setup promises a case in which tracking matters. Whether each clue and turn fully earns its place is a question of execution, but the underlying shape is exactly the sort of focused assignment that can make a Tracker episode satisfying.
The survivalist parallel gives the case a personal dimension
The target is not simply someone Colter has to locate. CBS’s description calls the person a stoic survivalist, “not unlike” Colter. That resemblance creates a useful tension: the search puts Colter in pursuit of someone who may share his instincts and capabilities.

This is a more interesting premise than a case that only tests Colter’s competence. A counterpart can make the investigation feel like a character story as well as a procedural, asking what Colter recognizes in the person he is trying to find. The parallel is the episode’s clearest reason to want more cases built this way: let the job challenge his skills while also reflecting something back at him.
What viewers disagreed about
Comments in one Reddit discussion show a divided response, not a representative audience verdict. Some participants welcomed the return to Colter doing field tracking and praised the outdoor setting. Others questioned the plot’s plausibility or found consequences of a character’s choices frustrating. One commenter called it “one of the better episodes”; another was dissatisfied with the story.

That contrast points to the balance this kind of episode has to strike. A strong tracking case needs to make the pursuit compelling, but its dangers and decisions also need to feel credible. The premise gives “Nightingale” a good foundation; the discussion suggests that not every viewer found the resulting story equally convincing. Those individual reactions are useful context, not proof of consensus.

“Nightingale” is a strong model for the kind of Tracker story worth returning to: a specific missing-person assignment, a serious criminal connection, and a target who can act as a mirror for Colter. That mix puts the show’s central appeal—the hunt—beside a character dynamic with room to deepen it. Even the split reactions underline the importance of making the case’s choices and consequences hold together.

The case for more episodes like this is not that every story needs the same setting or a survivalist opposite number. It is that the job should matter on two levels: Colter must use his skills to find someone, and the person or circumstances he encounters should test more than his ability to follow a trail. That is the promise at the heart of “Nightingale,” and a promising direction for the series.
