Tracy Morgan became ill courtside during the New York Knicks–Miami Heat game at Madison Square Garden on March 17, 2025. Play was stopped while arena staff cleaned the area near his seat, and he was taken from the arena. The next day, Morgan said doctors had told him it was food poisoning and that he was doing okay.
What happened at Madison Square Garden?
Morgan was seated courtside when he became ill during the game. The Associated Press reported that play paused with 6:09 left in the third quarter and that the delay lasted more than 10 minutes as staff cleaned the area around his seat. Contemporary coverage said he was taken away in a wheelchair; descriptions of the incident should be understood as reporting from the arena, not a medical assessment.

Morgan also thanked the Madison Square Garden staff who cared for him and cleaned the area, and joked that the Knicks were “1-0 when I throw up on the court.” His post referred to that game’s win, not a broader record or a health prognosis.
How did the Knicks and the arena respond?
After the game, Knicks forward Josh Hart said the team hoped Morgan was well and sent prayers for his health and safety. A Madison Square Garden spokesperson told ABC News, “We hope Tracy feels better soon and look forward to seeing him back courtside.” ABC News reported the arena’s statement and Morgan’s update.
