Officials said prison staff responded immediately, called 911 and provided medical aid before transporting Lanez to an outside medical facility. The contemporaneous reports did not initially detail the nature of his injuries.
What did the “14 times” report say?

The same account statement said both lungs had collapsed and that Lanez had been placed on a breathing apparatus. These injury details are attributed to the Instagram post; officials had not initially described them.
What did “pulling through” mean?
The May 12 Instagram statement said Lanez was breathing on his own and described him as talking normally and in good spirits. It said: “Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through.” ABC News and the AP reproduced the statement. “Pulling through” was the account’s description in that update, not confirmation of his condition today.

What was known about his condition after the attack?
In a follow-up published May 14, 2025, the AP reported that a corrections spokesperson described Lanez as being in fair condition a day after the attack. That is an early, dated update and does not establish his present medical status.
