Trump’s message urging Attorney General Pam Bondi to indict former FBI director James Comey appeared publicly on his Truth Social feed. A later account, attributed to Wall Street Journal reporting and summarized by Futurism, said Trump meant the message for Bondi alone and was surprised it was public. That reported intention is not independently established by the public post itself.
What Trump posted publicly
In a September 2025 Truth Social post addressed to “Pam,” Trump urged Bondi to indict Comey. Futurism reproduced the message as beginning: “Pam: I have reviewed over 30 statements and posts saying that, essentially, ‘same old story as last time, all talk, no action. Nothing is being done,’” It closed: “JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!! President DJT.” The claims and counts in the message are Trump’s words, not independently verified figures.
The post was visible on Trump’s public Truth Social feed. Futurism’s account includes a link to an archived copy of the post: Futurism’s October 9, 2025 report.
Was the post meant to be private?
According to Futurism’s summary of Wall Street Journal reporting based on sources inside the White House, Trump intended the message for Bondi alone. Futurism quoted an anonymous White House official as saying Trump was “surprised” when he learned it was public, because he had addressed it to “Pam.” The official was not named. This is an attributed account of Trump’s intention and reaction, not something the visible post proves.

The distinction matters: the post itself establishes that the message was public and addressed to Bondi; the reported private intention comes from the Wall Street Journal’s sources as described by Futurism. The available account does not establish what posting interface or action led to the public post.
What happened afterward
Futurism reported that Bondi was furious and called White House staffers and Trump. About an hour after the original post, Trump made a follow-up public post praising Bondi’s work, calling it a “GREAT job.” These reactions are also reported by Futurism rather than independently demonstrated by the original post.

How the post and Comey indictment relate
Futurism reported that Comey was indicted on federal charges five days after Trump’s post. That chronology does not show that the post caused the indictment: the report does not establish a causal link. The post is evidence of Trump publicly urging Bondi to act; the subsequent indictment is a separate event in the reported timeline.
