Michael Weatherly’s return as Tony DiNozzo on NCIS has been officially announced as a season-long arc in Season 24. Whether Cote de Pablo’s Ziva David follows him back to the flagship series is still unsettled. The only update so far comes from executive producer Steven D. Binder, and he described her storyline as an open question. Separately, the Paramount+ spinoff NCIS: Tony & Ziva was reported canceled after one season in December 2025.
What is confirmed about Tony’s return
Paramount Press Express announced that Weatherly will return as Tony in a season-long arc during the 2026–2027 NCIS season. That announcement is the only firm part of the story. The announcement itself does not state a specific episode, so viewers should expect Tony’s involvement to unfold across the season rather than in a single guest appearance.

Paramount’s series listing gives the Season 24 premiere as October 6, 2026 and includes Weatherly in the cast. That date has already passed as of this writing, so the listing is the place to check which episodes are currently available. It is not a live broadcast schedule.
Will Ziva return to NCIS?
Not confirmed. The most direct statement so far appeared in a CinemaBlend report published September 13, 2026, which quoted Binder:

“Whether or not her path will cross with our agents in D.C. is still an ongoing question — but rest assured, her presence will definitely be felt!”
Two details in that report matter for readers. First, Binder placed Ziva with her daughter Tali at boarding school a few hours away while Tony is back in D.C. That setup explains why a meeting with the D.C. team is not automatic. Second, the phrase “her presence will definitely be felt” describes how her storyline will influence the season. It does not confirm an on-screen appearance by Ziva or by de Pablo. No official source has announced de Pablo as part of the flagship cast for the season.

Where NCIS: Tony & Ziva stands
Paramount Global Content lists NCIS: Tony & Ziva as a Paramount+ drama with ten episodes in Season 1 and a September 4, 2025 premiere. Cote de Pablo stars as Ziva David and Michael Weatherly as Tony DiNozzo. The official description says Tony and Ziva are raising their daughter Tali together in Paris when Tony’s security company is attacked, and the two go on the run across Europe.
TV Insider reported on December 19, 2025 that the spinoff had been canceled after one season. Paramount’s official pages list the first season but do not themselves announce the cancellation, so readers should treat the cancellation as trade-reported status. The available reporting does not mention a second season.

Because the spinoff’s status is separate from the flagship series, a Ziva appearance on NCIS would not revive or extend Tony & Ziva. The two questions should be read independently. Availability of the first season depends on territory, so check Paramount+ in your country before assuming access.

What would change the answer
- An official cast announcement or episode credit naming Cote de Pablo for NCIS Season 24.
- A statement from Paramount or the show’s producers that clarifies Ziva’s storyline beyond the “ongoing question” wording.
- A formal Paramount statement about the spinoff’s status, which would supersede the trade report of cancellation.
Until one of these appears, the reliable reading is that Tony’s return is official, Ziva’s return is possible but unconfirmed, and the spinoff is reported canceled after one season.
