While Danza was making tomato sauce, Bertinelli teased him about a missed connection. She said, “This is a sauce you never made for me even though I left my number in your glove box,” and added, “He never called me!”
Drew Barrymore asked Danza, “Did you ever find Val’s phone number in your glove box?” He answered, “No, I did not. I think she’s full of baloney.” Bertinelli laughed, and the conversation continued as banter.
Why the sauce was part of the joke
Danza was preparing his tomato sauce, which Bertinelli connected to a playful “date sauce” remark. She joked that he had never made it for her despite the supposed note in his glove box. The story was an anecdotal exchange, not a confirmed account of what happened: Bertinelli offered her recollection, and Danza said he had not found the number. The reports do not independently verify whether a note was left or discovered.

Parade and Us Weekly identify the episode’s broadcast date as October 14, 2025. The dates refer to different things: the official segment-page date and the reported episode air date.

Danza’s response was a playful denial that he found the number; it is not evidence that he deliberately ignored Bertinelli. The exchange’s tone and context are reflected in contemporaneous coverage by Parade and Us Weekly.
