1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsNeither Regal nor AMC is the universal winner. Regal Unlimited is the stronger fit if you have a participating Regal nearby and see enough movies to benefit from uncapped eligible visits. AMC A-List may suit you better if you have a convenient AMC and value up to four movies a week with specified premium formats and advance seat reservations included. The deciding factors are your local theatres, the showtimes and formats you actually use, and the current membership terms—not chain size alone.
How to choose between Regal and AMC
Start with the theatres you would actually visit. Search both chains for the same film and date, then compare travel time, available showtimes, seat types and the final checkout total. A nearby location’s facilities and schedule matter more to your experience than a companywide location count.
- Check access: Confirm the specific Regal participates in Unlimited and check which AMC locations are practical for you. Regal publishes an Unlimited theatre list; chainwide counts do not tell you which theatre is convenient.
- Compare the same show: Look at a standard screening and, if relevant, a premium-format screening at each chain. Check the exact showtime and seat selection.
- Read current membership terms: Compare the price for your location, any initial commitment, applicable taxes and possible ticket surcharges before subscribing.
- Match the plan to your habits: Estimate how many visits you will make and whether the included formats and reservation rules fit your usual choices.

Which subscription gives you more movie visits?
Regal: uncapped eligible visits, not every screening
Regal describes Unlimited as allowing unlimited movies at participating theatres. That does not mean every Regal ticket is covered: the program rules allow exclusions for certain films, formats, showtimes and events. Confirm the location and screening before relying on the pass. Regal’s Unlimited help page explains participation and eligibility.

AMC: up to four movies each week
AMC’s 2025 Form 10-K, filed February 23, 2026, describes A-List as covering up to four movies per week, with multiple movies in one day and repeat visits permitted. If four weekly admissions are enough for your routine, the cap may not matter; if you expect to go more often, Regal’s uncapped-visit description may be more useful, provided the screenings you want are eligible. The weekly limit and included offerings are described in AMC’s 2025 Form 10-K.
What do the memberships cost?
Regal’s posted standard Unlimited rate is $25.99 per monthly subscription period after the applicable initial term, according to rules last modified September 23, 2026. The initial term and other plan details matter, so the monthly figure alone is not the full commitment. Regal’s current terms are at Regal Unlimited Rules.

For either chain, compare the amount you would actually pay, including taxes, any applicable convenience charges, the plan’s commitment terms and surcharges for the format or seat you select. Current local ticket prices also determine whether a subscription is worthwhile for an occasional moviegoer.

Does AMC A-List include IMAX, and does Regal charge extra?
AMC’s 2025 Form 10-K lists IMAX, Dolby Cinema, RealD and Prime among the premium offerings included with A-List, alongside advance reserved seating at no additional cost. Check the specific theatre and showtime, since the listing does not mean every film or format is available at every location.
Regal’s rules allow premium-format and premium-seating surcharges and contain eligibility exclusions. The price or eligibility of a particular screening depends on its location, format and showtime; check the ticket checkout and current Regal rules before assuming a premium ticket is covered without an extra charge.

Does one chain have better theatres?
There is no established chainwide winner for picture quality, seats, food, cleanliness, service or overall comfort. Those features vary by auditorium and location, and available company figures do not measure customer satisfaction or compare the quality of screenings.
AMC reported 845 theatres and 9,530 screens as of June 30, 2026. Its June 2026 filing also reported 226 IMAX screens, 182 Dolby Cinema screens, 161 in-house PLF screens, 193 XL screens, 11 SCREENX screens and 3 4DX screens. These are AMC-reported portfolio figures, not evidence that a particular format is available near you or that it is better than a Regal auditorium. See AMC’s Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026.

Judge the theatre you plan to use: inspect its seating options, screen and sound format, concession choices, parking and showtime availability. A chain’s overall scale cannot settle those local questions.
What about loyalty programs if you do not want a subscription?
Both companies offer non-subscription loyalty options. AMC reports free Insider and paid Premiere benefits, while Regal offers free Rewards and the Rewards+ benefit tier. AMC said it had 40.7 million Stubs member households as of June 30, 2026, and that Stubs members represented approximately 51.6% of AMC U.S. attendance during the first half of 2026. Those company-reported figures describe membership scale and participation, not customer satisfaction or the value you will personally receive. A complete rewards-value comparison is not established by the available program information. Review current benefits at AMC Stubs and Regal Rewards.
Quick Recap
Who should choose Regal or AMC?
- Choose Regal Unlimited if a participating Regal is convenient, you expect to attend often enough to use uncapped eligible visits, and the plan’s exclusions and any premium surcharges suit your viewing habits.
- Choose AMC A-List if a nearby AMC has the films and formats you want, up to four weekly admissions fit your routine, and you value the premium offerings and advance seat reservations AMC lists as included.
- Consider neither subscription if you go only occasionally. Compare individual ticket prices and the chains’ free loyalty options; without your local ticket prices and likely visit frequency, there is no reliable universal break-even point.
