The Atari logo in the Blade Runner 2049 trailer was product placement, not an announcement of a new Atari game. In a 2017 report, GamesBeat attributed the explanation to Atari CEO Fred Chesnais, who said the company agreed to appear in the film after being approached again.
Which Blade Runner trailer has the Atari logo?
It is the trailer for Blade Runner 2049, the 2017 sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 film. The trailer shows the Atari logo on a large sign above a Spinner, a flying vehicle in the film’s future Los Angeles. Alcon Entertainment identifies the movie as a sequel and names Denis Villeneuve as its director; Sony Pictures’ synopsis follows Officer K as he investigates a secret and searches for former blade runner Rick Deckard.

The Next Web also noted the large Atari logo looming over a Spinner in its May 9, 2017 trailer coverage.
Why is Atari’s logo in the trailer?
GamesBeat reported on May 8, 2017, that Atari CEO Fred Chesnais explained the appearances in both Blade Runner films as the result of a product-placement deal. The outlet quoted him saying, “We are happy and honored to be part of the trailer,” and, “They came to us again and of course we said yes.” Chesnais also described the placement as part of a broader effort to make use of Atari as a lifestyle brand.

The explanation comes from GamesBeat’s account of Chesnais’s comments. The Next Web’s report corroborates that the logo is visible in the trailer, but does not independently explain the commercial arrangement.
Does the logo mean an Atari Blade Runner game was announced?
No. GamesBeat reported that Atari was not making a Blade Runner game. The logo’s presence is evidence of a brand placement, not a game announcement.
