The 67th Annual Grammy Awards were shaped by Los Angeles’ wildfire crisis as much as by the awards themselves. The Recording Academy said it reworked the February 2, 2025 telecast to raise funds for wildfire relief and honor first responders. Fulwell 73 Productions produced the main show, with executive producers Ben Winston, Raj Kapoor and Jesse Collins; onstage, Dawes opened the broadcast and Los Angeles firefighters presented Album of the Year to Beyoncé for Cowboy Carter.
Why did the 2025 Grammys change their focus?
The ceremony took place in Los Angeles while the region was responding to devastating wildfires. The Recording Academy said the telecast would carry a renewed purpose: raising additional funds for relief and honoring first responders. It also canceled or reformatted many traditional GRAMMY Week activities to support people in the music community and the wider Los Angeles area. The Academy’s January 2025 announcement described that plan.

As of January 31, 2025, the Academy said it and MusiCares had distributed more than $4 million in emergency aid to more than 2,000 music people affected by the fires. That was an interim figure for aid to that beneficiary group—not a final total for the ceremony or all wildfire relief.
Who produced the 2025 Grammys?
Fulwell 73 Productions produced the main telecast for the Recording Academy for the fourth consecutive year. Ben Winston, Raj Kapoor and Jesse Collins were its executive producers, according to the Academy’s broadcast announcement and presenter announcement.

The earlier Premiere Ceremony was a separate production with its own credits. Its producers were Branden Chapman, Ruby Marchand, Lindsay Saunders Carl and Rex Supa; Greg V. Fera was executive producer, and Cheche Alara was music producer and music director. Those credits, also listed in the Academy announcement, should not be conflated with the main show’s team.

The main ceremony was hosted by Trevor Noah. The Academy’s distribution details were published before the event and describe how the 2025 programs were scheduled to be accessed in the United States; they are not a claim about current streaming availability. The Academy’s announcement gives the venues and broadcast plans.
How did the telecast connect the awards to the fires?
Dawes brothers Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith opened the broadcast. Their family homes and possessions had been lost in the fires, giving the opening a direct connection to people affected by the disaster. The Associated Press account of the ceremony noted that the brothers opened instead of the celebrity performers AP observed in attendance.
Los Angeles firefighters presented the final award, Album of the Year. In that placement, the ceremony brought its central award back to the first responders it had set out to honor. AP reported that Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone called it “a tremendous honor and privilege” to be among music industry professionals. AP’s report on Beyoncé’s win covers the presentation.

Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter won both Album of the Year and Best Country Album. Taylor Swift presented the Best Country Album award. The results appear in the Recording Academy’s winners roundup and its 67th Annual GRAMMY Awards listing; AP reported on the Album of the Year moment.
Swift’s role was presenting the award, not making Cowboy Carter. The Academy’s album credits list her as a producer and songwriter on a different nominee, The Tortured Poets Department. The Academy describes the GRAMMYs as peer-voted, with winners chosen by music creators in its voting membership.
Why was The Weeknd at the Grammys?
The Weeknd made a surprise appearance and performed “Cry For Me” and “Timeless” with Playboi Carti, songs from Hurry Up Tomorrow. Before introducing him, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. referred to the singer’s past criticism of the Grammys’ transparency, according to AP’s highlights report. That reported sequence explains why the appearance drew attention; it does not, by itself, establish a reconciliation or the reasons for his decision to perform.
What did the awards recognize?
Two prominent song-related awards can go to the same title while recognizing different work. Song of the Year recognizes songwriters; Record of the Year recognizes the recording more broadly, including artists, producers and engineers. AP’s Grammy coverage explains the distinction. The categories therefore recognize different contributions, even when a song wins both.
What is documented about the show’s production?
The public accounts establish the purpose behind the telecast, its production leadership, broadcast arrangements, award results and several key stage moments. They do not describe how individual performances were staged or how the camera, lighting, sound or control-room work was designed. So the documented story of the 2025 Grammys is about who led the programs and how the ceremony responded to the moment—not a technical behind-the-scenes account.
