There is no official ranking that compares every anime universe on one shared power scale. This list is an editorial judgment, not a canonical result: it ranks Saitama, Goku, and Satoru Gojo by demonstrated feats, ability range, survivability, and how reliably each can use their powers. Here, “OP” means unusually difficult to defeat because a character’s power or abilities give them a decisive advantage.
How this ranking works
The comparison is limited to what the anime portrays; manga-only developments and other source material are not used to move a character up or down. The criteria below are practical tools for comparison, not an official industry standard.
- Demonstrated feats: what the character has actually shown, rather than what fans speculate they might do.
- Range and versatility: whether their abilities provide more than one route to winning.
- Durability and survivability: how difficult they are to injure, incapacitate, or outlast.
- Reliability: how consistently they can bring those strengths to bear in a fight.
Cross-series matchups remain inherently debatable: each story has its own rules, and no shared official scale resolves how one universe’s abilities interact with another’s.
The ranking
1. Saitama — One-Punch Man
Saitama is the clearest fit for the label “overpowered”: the series presents him as a hero whose strength makes ordinary combat challenges seem trivial. Crunchyroll identifies him as a prime example of an OP character, and ONE Esports includes him among candidates for strongest anime character. That makes him a leading editorial pick, not a proven winner in every possible crossover.
#1 Best Overall
- DARK DEKU: Hunt down the League of Villains with Total Anime Izuku Midoriya
- MY HERO ACADEMIA: 6.5-inch highly poseable figure is based on My Hero Academia
- 30+ ARTICULATION POINTS: Features 30+ points of articulation for dynamic play and display
- CUSTOMIZABILITY: Includes removable backpack, swappable faceplates, and alternate hands for customization
- SPECIAL ACCESSORY: Also includes energy effects to display Fa Jin and Blackwhip
His case is strongest on demonstrated power and apparent ability to end fights quickly. The counterweight is that a cross-franchise ranking cannot turn a comedic premise into a universal measurement. The official One-Punch Man character directory identifies the series’ characters; it does not rank them against characters from other franchises.
2. Goku — Dragon Ball
Goku is a recurring candidate in discussions of the most powerful anime characters, including ONE Esports’ overview and CBR’s 2024 ranking video. His placement depends heavily on which version and form are being compared, so “Goku” is not a single fixed power level for every matchup.
Rank #2
- Naruto Uzumaki, as seen in "NARUTO: Shippuden," rejoins S.H.Figuarts with all new joint technology
- [Set Contents] Main Body, Three left and four right optional hands, Four optional expressions, Kunai, "Rasengan" effect, Crossed arm parts
- Stands approximately 5.5" tall
- The product box will have a Bandai Namco warning label, which is proof that you are purchasing an officially licensed product
He ranks just below Saitama here because the criteria favor the unusually decisive way Saitama is framed in his series, while Goku’s standing is more tied to the particular point in his story and the form under consideration. That is a choice of comparison method, not an official verdict on which character would win.
3. Satoru Gojo — Jujutsu Kaisen
Gojo belongs in the conversation because his abilities make him a formidable opponent within Jujutsu Kaisen, and both Crunchyroll and ONE Esports discuss him in the context of OP or powerful anime characters. His inclusion also illustrates why raw strength is not the only useful measure: an ability that changes how an opponent can approach a fight may matter as much as force.
Rank #3

He sits below the two broader power contenders in this particular ranking because a cross-series comparison must weigh ability range and survivability alongside the rules and limits established by each anime. His position is an editorial assessment, not a claim that the series share a common power system.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why other rankings may differ
Lists of the “strongest anime character” often select different contenders or order familiar names differently. Crunchyroll’s 2023 OP-character list, ONE Esports’ candidate overview, and CBR’s 2024 ranking video are examples of editorial selections, not parts of a single agreed ranking. Without a shared scale, changing the scope—especially the version of a character or whether manga material counts—can change the outcome.
