It is no longer a coming release: the film opened in North America on September 12, 2025, and later returned to theaters in March 2026. At the time of the milestone report, Sony said the film had earned ¥34.01 billion (US$229.85 million) in Japan and US$269 million across Crunchyroll and Sony markets worldwide. Those were dated, geographically defined figures—not a current all-territory lifetime total.
What milestone did Infinity Castle reach?
In a September 23, 2025 report, Crunchyroll relayed Sony Pictures Entertainment’s figures: Infinity Castle had earned ¥34.01 billion (US$229.85 million) in Japan and US$269 million in Crunchyroll and Sony markets worldwide. The second figure is a subtotal for those markets, not a confirmed total for every territory. Crunchyroll’s report described the movie as the highest-grossing anime film worldwide at that time; that dated ranking should not be read as a verified current ranking.
The headline’s “massive milestone” framing came from a September 2025 story, when the movie was still approaching its North American general release. The milestone and release context are historical, rather than breaking news. Crunchyroll’s September 23, 2025 milestone report provides the dated figures.
What did it earn during its opening weekend?
Comscore estimated a US$70 million North American opening weekend and a US$177.8 million worldwide opening weekend, according to the Associated Press on September 14, 2025. The North American result was described at the time as the biggest domestic opening for an anime film. These are opening-weekend estimates, not cumulative grosses, and they should not be added to later totals as if they were separate earnings.

![Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba): The Movie - Mugen Train [Blu-ray]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51Gof-Z4l7L._SL160_.jpg)
- Tanjiro Kamado, joined with Inosuke Hashibira, a boy raised by boars who wears a boar's head, and Zenitsu Agatsuma, a scared boy who reveals his true power when he sleeps, board the Infinity Train on a new mission with the Fire Pillar, Kyojuro Rengoku, to defeat a demon who has been tormenting the people and killing the demon slayers who oppose it!
The North American figure measures that market; the worldwide opening estimate covers a wider set of markets. Both figures were reported at the time by the Associated Press, citing Comscore.
When did the film open in North America?
The film opened in Japan on July 18, 2025, followed by its North American general theatrical release on September 12, 2025. That September date was the “domestic debut” referred to in the original headline; “domestic” meant the North American market in that context, not Japan. See the Sony Pictures release listing for the film.

What is Infinity Castle adapting?
Infinity Castle is the first entry in an announced three-film series adapting the final arc of Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment announced worldwide theatrical distribution for the trilogy, excluding Japan and select Asian territories; distribution arrangements may differ by region. The announcement sets out that scope.
Can you watch it in theaters or at home now?
After its original North American run, the film returned to theaters in the United States and Canada on March 6, 2026, according to the official English-language franchise site. The same site announced streaming availability on Crunchyroll beginning July 28, 2026, worldwide except Japan and Mainland China. It also announced digital purchase in select territories, including North America, through Apple TV, Prime Video, Google Play, YouTube, and Fandango. Availability can vary by territory and storefront; consult the official franchise site and local service listings for current options.

Is there a confirmed current worldwide lifetime gross?
The figures available here do not establish a precise all-territory lifetime gross as of October 8, 2026. The Japan total and Crunchyroll/Sony-market subtotal are useful dated measures, but their scope differs; the opening-weekend estimates are different measures again. Because the reports cover different periods and territories, combining them would not produce a reliable current worldwide total.
Likewise, the 2025 claim that the film was the highest-grossing anime film worldwide belongs to Crunchyroll’s dated report. Without a current, comparable source, it should not be presented as an up-to-date all-time ranking.
