The ten below are notable rare cars attributed to him in published accounts, ordered as an editorial selection rather than a proven rarity ranking. The evidence varies by car: some accounts identify a specific chassis or sale history, while others leave ownership or even the exact model uncertain.
How to read this list
Rarity here has four separate dimensions: how many examples of a model or variant were made, how well a specific car’s identity and history are documented, whether it is original or a replica, and how strong the evidence is that Cage owned that particular car. Those dimensions do not always align. British GQ and SlashGear describe overlapping collections but differ on some details; neither supplies a complete, independently verified inventory. The descriptions below therefore attribute claims to their sources rather than presenting every ownership detail as settled fact. See British GQ’s collection feature and SlashGear’s list.
Ten rare cars attributed to Nicolas Cage
1. 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spyder
British GQ describes Cage’s black Ferrari as the 34th of the 51 long-wheelbase California Spyders built. It also reports that the car was originally ordered by Luigi Innocenti, a friend of Enzo Ferrari. The limited production run and the specific reported provenance make this one of the strongest lead entries, though the article does not establish a complete primary-record history for the car.
2. Lamborghini Miura P400 SV/J or SVJ
British GQ and SlashGear both associate Cage with a Miura linked to the Shah of Iran, chassis 4934. They disagree on the variant’s production count: GQ reports six SV/J cars, while SlashGear says four SVJs. The terminology may refer to different classifications, or one figure may be mistaken; without model-specific primary documentation, neither number should be treated as a settled count. Their reported purchase prices also differ, so neither provides a reliable basis for stating what Cage paid.

3. 1938 Bugatti Type 57C Atalante
SlashGear identifies the car as chassis 57679 and reports that it left the factory in Atalante form, was owned by Cage in the late 1990s, and was sold by RM Sotheby’s in 2002. These details make the Bugatti a particularly distinctive attribution, but the chassis history is reported by the article rather than independently confirmed here.
4. 1964 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III Convertible
SlashGear describes a left-hand-drive, Mulliner-bodied Silver Cloud III in Velvet Green as one of only 25 built in that configuration and says it was formerly in Cage’s collection. The same article mentions another Silver Cloud III attributed to him with less verifiable support. The better-supported account concerns this specific 1964 car, not a general claim that every reported Silver Cloud attribution is established.

5. Lynx-built XKSS replica
SlashGear says Cage owned a high-end Jaguar XKSS replica built by Lynx Engineering and reports that it later sold at Bonhams in 2014. The distinction matters: the account is about a replica, not an original Jaguar XKSS and not proof that Cage owned an original D-Type.
6. 1955 Porsche 356 Pre-A Speedster
SlashGear describes a white Speedster with a tan top and interior, later restored and sold through RM Sotheby’s in 2017 for just over $255,000. That is a historical reported sale, not a current value or appraisal of the car today.

7. Lamborghini 350 GT
The 350 GT was Lamborghini’s first production car. SlashGear, citing Lamborghini, puts production at around 120 examples. The connection to Cage is much less firm: SlashGear calls the reported purchase hazy and notes that only enthusiast sites link him to chassis 0217. A 2022 Bonhams sale of a near-identical car is a market comparison, not evidence of Cage’s ownership or of this car’s value.
8. Lamborghini Diablo VT Alpine
SlashGear reports that Cage ordered an orange 2001 Diablo VT Alpine, adding that only six cars were believed to have been produced in that color and that his was reportedly the only U.S.-market example. Both the production count and the specific market configuration should be read as that source’s attribution, not confirmed factory figures.

9. Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder attribution
SlashGear, citing the Barchetta registry, reports Cage’s ownership of a Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder from 2003 to 2007 and says it appeared at The Quail in 2004. This may overlap with British GQ’s account of the 1959 long-wheelbase California Spyder. Without independent records establishing two distinct cars, it should not be counted as a separate, confirmed vehicle from that GQ example.
10. Jaguar D-Type claim (contested)
British GQ says Cage had a Jaguar D-Type and that it was sold to pay debts. SlashGear, however, says evidence for an original D-Type is thin and points instead to the Lynx XKSS replica attributed to him. The two claims should not be merged: the reported replica is not an original D-Type, and the original-car ownership claim remains disputed. The Daily Beast’s account of Cage’s spending is background, not chassis-level proof of D-Type ownership.

Why “rarest” does not mean “most expensive”
Production rarity, documented provenance, originality and ownership evidence answer different questions. A small claimed production number does not by itself verify that Cage owned a specific example; a documented auction sale does not establish a car’s current worth. For scale, Gooding Christie’s reported a $25,305,000 result in 2025 for a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider Competizione and $1,765,000 for a 1968 Lamborghini Miura P400. Both are dated results for specific cars and specifications—not valuations of Cage’s reported long-wheelbase Ferrari or Miura. The auction house also reported an average of $847,262 per lot sold at its 2025 Pebble Beach auctions, a broad sale statistic rather than a measure of these cars. See Gooding Christie’s 2025 Pebble Beach results.
Cage’s car collection changes over time
Collection stories describe cars held at particular points in time, not a permanent garage. In May 2026, duPont REGISTRY reported that Cage bought a 2003 Lamborghini Murciélago in October 2025 and sold it in February 2026 before it appeared on the marketplace. That more recent car illustrates changing ownership; it does not establish a new entry in a historical rare-cars ranking. See duPont REGISTRY’s report.
