Uncle Iroh’s advice is memorable because it grows out of the moment: he is guiding Zuko, offering perspective on change and loss, or finding comfort in a cup of tea. But an accurate list of 35 quotes needs to be checked against the episodes. The sources available here establish Iroh’s character and a few dialogue leads—not 35 verified lines—so presenting a full collection as exact would risk misquoting the series.
What makes Iroh’s advice distinctive
Nickelodeon describes Iroh as perceptive and clever, a calm and wise presence who tries to guide his nephew Zuko toward a more benevolent path. Tea brewing is among his listed skills. That combination gives his advice its particular shape: it is often patient and practical, grounded in care for the person he is speaking to rather than in a desire to win an argument. The series behind the character
This article’s scope is the original animated Avatar: The Last Airbender, not later adaptations or related series. Nickelodeon Animation lists 61 episodes and gives the original run as February 21, 2005, through July 19, 2008. Nickelodeon Animation’s series page
Why a verified 35-quote list matters
Exact wording and episode attribution matter in a quote collection: a paraphrase can capture Iroh’s lesson without being dialogue from the show, and a correct line can still be misleading if attached to the wrong scene. The available discovery sources point to possible lines but do not establish a complete, authoritative set of 35 quotations. The premiere dialogue listing, for example, points to Iroh offering Zuko “a cup of calming jasmine tea”; an IMDb dialogue page for “Lake Laogai” points to a scene in which Iroh prompts Zuko to look inward. These are leads, not substitutes for checking the episodes. IMDb episode dialogue listing IMDb “Lake Laogai” dialogue page

Once each line has been checked against its episode, thematic groups make a quote collection easier to browse without treating every piece of advice as interchangeable:
Rank #2
- Mentorship and identity: moments when Iroh helps Zuko consider who he wants to become.
- Patience and perspective: advice that encourages a pause before judgment or action.
- Resilience and loss: moments shaped by hardship, grief, and recovery.
- Balance and change: reflections on adapting and finding a steadier path.
- Tea and everyday pleasures: scenes where care, hospitality, or a simple comfort carries meaning.
These are editorial themes, not official categories. Each entry in a reliable collection should give the exact dialogue and the episode title, with wording and attribution checked against the licensed episode.
