Jay White has built his reputation on patient, character-driven wrestling: he studies an opponent, turns small openings into leverage, and makes the finish feel like the result of a story rather than a sequence of moves. Two matches against Kota Ibushi stand out as the clearest recommendations: their G1 Climax 29 final and their Wrestle Kingdom 15 title match. The rest of this critic’s watchlist adds variety across opponents, stakes, and White’s NJPW and AEW years; it is a curated selection, not an official or definitive ranking.

2. Kota Ibushi vs. Jay White — G1 Climax 29 final, August 12, 2019
For a different chapter in the same rivalry, watch their G1 Climax 29 final. The tournament-final stakes make this a useful companion to the Wrestle Kingdom match, while the earlier date shows how their dynamic developed before the later championship encounter. The secondary Meltzer-rating compilation records it at 5.5 stars; as with the other rating, that is an individual critic’s judgment rather than a standardized score.

AEW’s official results index is the place to check promotion records. Catalog access for any specific match may differ by territory and change over time, so check the relevant official service rather than assuming a particular stream is available.

Other opponents, including Kazuchika Okada and Swerve Strickland, surfaced as possible additions, but the available evidence does not establish a defensible ten-match order or verify the relevant event dates, cards, stipulations, and results. Naming seven more bouts as recommendations would imply a level of confidence the sources do not support. For readers asking “Best Jay White matches???” or “Any Jay White matches that you recommend,” the two Ibushi matches are the most firmly supported starting points, with the Page encounter offering a later AEW-era option.
