Jin-Woo’s most consequential ability is Shadow Extraction: it lets him build a fighting force from eligible defeated opponents. This ranking covers his abilities across the full main story, not just the anime’s earlier arcs, and weighs strategic reach, versatility, mobility, combat value, and dependence on his shadow army. It is an editorial ranking, not an official canon tier list.
How the ranking works
Jin-Woo’s powers change substantially over the story. The System first gives him an unusual route to growth; later, he inherits the Shadow Monarch’s position and abilities. The list below ranks abilities by what they let him do across the completed main story, rather than treating every power as if it were available from the beginning.
Some names and mechanics below come from a fan-maintained reference, not an official canon ranking. Where that reference gives numerical effects, they are identified as fictional in-world descriptions rather than real-world measurements.
Jin-Woo’s best skills and abilities, ranked
1. Shadow Extraction
Shadow Extraction allows Jin-Woo to turn eligible defeated opponents into shadow soldiers. It is his defining strategic power because each successful extraction can add a new ally, role, or source of strength to his army. Its value depends on the targets he can extract and the soldiers he has accumulated; it is not an unlimited way to create forces from nothing. The fan-maintained skill reference describes the ability and its mechanics.

2. Shadow Exchange
Shadow Exchange uses shadows as portals for long-distance travel. That makes it more than a convenient movement skill: it can help Jin-Woo reposition, pursue a target, or reach allies quickly. Its strategic value comes from mobility and access, rather than directly increasing the strength of his army. The reference entry describes its portal-based travel.
3. Monarch’s Domain
Monarch’s Domain strengthens shadow soldiers who are active in battle, amplifying the force Jin-Woo has already assembled. The fan-maintained reference lists a 50% increase in their strength. That figure is a fictional skill specification, not a real-world statistic or an independently measured result. The ability ranks highly because it improves a whole group rather than only Jin-Woo’s individual attacks. See the reference entry for Monarch’s Domain.
4. Ruler’s Authority
Ruler’s Authority gives Jin-Woo telekinetic control over objects. It offers flexible battlefield control, with uses for movement and defense, and does not rely on having shadow soldiers nearby. That makes it a useful complement to his army-focused powers. The fan reference describes the ability.
5. System-enabled growth
The System’s most important contribution is letting Jin-Woo level up. It is a progression mechanism, not a single attack or combat technique, but it belongs in a ranking of his abilities because it underpins his personal development. Unlike hunters whose abilities are fixed after awakening, Jin-Woo can continue to grow through the System. The reference entry on the System covers this framework.
6. Dragon’s Fear
Dragon’s Fear is a mana-infused shout that can overwhelm weaker targets with panic and despair. It gives Jin-Woo a crowd-control option, although its effect depends on the relative strength of the people facing it. The fan-maintained entry describes the skill.
7. Stealth
Stealth helps Jin-Woo conceal himself and suppress his presence, making infiltration and surprise attacks easier. It is less decisive against opponents who can perceive him or simply overpower him, so it ranks below powers with broader strategic impact. The reference entry describes its concealment effects.

8. Bloodlust
Bloodlust is a fear-inducing skill that can weaken opponents. The fan-maintained reference lists a 50% reduction in a target’s stats; that is a fictional ability value, not a real statistic. Its position here reflects its use as a debuff, while its effectiveness remains dependent on the target and circumstances. See the reference entry for Bloodlust.
9. Quicksilver
Quicksilver provides a temporary burst of speed. That can matter in a fight, but its limited duration makes it a narrower tool than Jin-Woo’s army-building, travel, and battlefield-control abilities. The fan reference describes Quicksilver.
Best Value
10. Mutilation and Dagger Rush
These close-range skills offer direct attack options: Mutilation targets vital points, while Dagger Rush delivers a multi-directional barrage. They are useful in combat, but more specialized than the abilities above that affect movement, control, or an entire shadow force. Mutilation and Dagger Rush are listed in the fan-maintained reference.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why Shadow Extraction ranks above the rest
The abilities near the top serve different jobs. Shadow Extraction builds Jin-Woo’s force; Shadow Exchange changes where he and his allies can be; Monarch’s Domain makes active shadow soldiers stronger. Ruler’s Authority, by contrast, gives him direct control over objects, while his dagger skills focus on close-range attacks. The ranking favors abilities that create options or change the scale of a fight, not simply the most dramatic individual strike.
Game skills are not automatically main-story skills
Solo Leveling: ARISE is an action game adaptation of the hit webtoon, as Netmarble describes it in its official announcement. Netmarble’s 2026 announcement names Mirage Blade and Sovereign Doom for a game version of Jin-Woo. Those are game-announcement details; they should not be silently added to a ranking of the main-story abilities as though they were established main-story skill names.
