The available report does not confirm a list of 20 best America’s Got Talent moments. Parade published a ranked selection of 16 memorable auditions from both America’s Got Talent (AGT) and Britain’s Got Talent (BGT), and cautioned that memorable does not necessarily mean best. Susan Boyle tops that reported list. The anniversary is AGT’s 20th season, which aired in 2025.
What the anniversary list actually includes
Parade’s May 26, 2025 article presents 16 auditions in ranked order, drawing from both shows in the Got Talent franchise—not 20 AGT-only moments. The ranking is a list of memorable auditions, not an objective verdict on performance quality. The available reporting does not establish that this selection was Simon Cowell’s personal top 20.
Here is the reported order, with the show affiliation identified where the article specifies it:
- Susan Boyle
- Musa Motha — BGT
- Mayyas — AGT; Sofia Vergara’s Golden Buzzer act
- Men with Pans
- Archie Williams — AGT
- Shin Lim — AGT winner and winner of AGT: The Champions
- Zucaroah
- Drake Milligan — AGT
- Sacred Riana
- Ben Lapidus — AGT
- Ashleigh & Pudsey — BGT
- Avery Dixon — AGT
- Calum Scott — BGT
- Tape Face — AGT
- Chapel Hart — AGT
- Ickikawa
These are the names and positions Parade reports; its article does not identify every act’s franchise in the details available here. Read Parade’s ranked selection.

Why these auditions stand out in the report
Susan Boyle: the No. 1 pick
Parade places Boyle first and says her audition overturned Cowell’s initial expectation. In a separate anniversary interview, Cowell recalled that her clip may have been the first audition video he saw “genuinely explode within minutes of being on the show.” That is Cowell’s recollection, not an independently measured claim about online viewing history. TheWrap’s interview with Cowell provides the quote.
Musa Motha and Mayyas
Motha is described by Parade as a one-legged dancer who appeared on BGT. Mayyas, an AGT act, is identified as Sofia Vergara’s Golden Buzzer act. Their placement in the same list illustrates its cross-franchise scope; it does not make either act part of an AGT-only ranking.

Archie Williams and Chapel Hart
Parade says Williams had spent 37 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. That sensitive biographical detail is attributed here to Parade’s account. The article also notes that Chapel Hart received a group Golden Buzzer for performing “You Can Have Him Jolene.”
Shin Lim
Lim’s distinction in the selection is that he won both AGT and AGT: The Champions, according to Parade.

Why the 20th anniversary was in 2025
The milestone refers to the show’s 20th season, not 20 completed years since its premiere. The Daily Beast reports that AGT premiered on NBC on June 21, 2006, with Regis Philbin as host; its 20th season arrived in 2025. The season’s panel was Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Mel B, and Sofia Vergara, with Terry Crews hosting. TheWrap notes Mel B’s return to the panel. The Daily Beast’s anniversary feature and TheWrap’s interview cover the anniversary context.
Cowell described the show’s open-ended premise to The Daily Beast: “Literally, I just thought in that moment, why don’t we just take all the rules off and just go, anyone can come on the show; wouldn’t that be fun?” TheWrap also reports his view that the anniversary season showed more behind-the-scenes material than previous seasons.

What the audience figures do—and do not—show
The Daily Beast reported figures attributed to Fremantle, the production company behind the franchise: more than 1 billion viewers globally and more than 36 billion video views across platforms. Those are company-attributed figures as reported in 2025; the available account does not provide independent verification or measurement methodology. They describe the franchise’s reach, not the performance or ranking of any individual audition.
Is there a verified top 20?
No full 20-entry AGT list is established by the available reporting. An NBC search listing surfaced anniversary-season and clip material, including an AGT 20th Birthday Party reference, but did not confirm the contents of a 20-item Cowell ranking. Until an authoritative special or transcript establishes otherwise, the precise description is Parade’s 16 memorable auditions from AGT and BGT—not “Simon Cowell’s 20 best AGT moments.”
