The list covers Japan from November 20, 2023, through November 17, 2024; it is a series-sales ranking, not a global popularity poll or a ranking of individual volumes.
How to read the 2024 ranking
Oricon’s annual series chart estimates sales attributed to each manga series in Japan during its stated period. The reported chart period is November 20, 2023, through November 17, 2024. The coverage describes the manga figures as physical-copy sales and excludes digital sales, so they should not be read as total worldwide sales, readership, or all-format purchases.

Oricon’s announcement for its broader 2024 annual book ranking says it used sales data from 4,084 cooperating bookstores nationwide, including online sales, as of November 25, 2024. That statement describes the book ranking methodology broadly; it does not fully detail the sampling or estimation method for the manga series chart.

Series sales are not the same as volume sales
A series ranking combines sales attributed to a title across its volumes during the measured year. A single-volume ranking instead compares individual books. In Oricon’s reported 2024 volume chart, One Piece volume 108 ranked first with 1,552,215 copies, while Jujutsu Kaisen volume 25 followed with 1,542,345 copies. Those volume-level estimates are separate from the series totals above.
Oricon-published reporting also described One Piece as the top comics title in the broader annual “Book” Ranking for a second consecutive year and 14th time overall. That statement concerns the comics category within the annual book ranking; it does not change Jujutsu Kaisen’s first place in the series-sales table.

What the ranking does—and does not—show
- It shows which series had the highest estimated physical-copy sales in Japan during Oricon’s stated annual period.
- It does not establish global sales, digital sales, total readership, or which series readers liked best.
- It records sales rank and estimated copies, but by itself does not explain why any title sold at that level.
