The films and songs audiences remember
Shakila’s best-known associations include Guru Dutt’s Aar Paar (1954) and CID (1956). In a retrospective, The Times of India described Aar Paar as the film in which she first caught viewers’ attention as a nightclub dancer, and called CID the biggest hit of her film career. Those descriptions reflect the retrospective’s assessment, rather than independently measured popularity figures.
She also appeared in China Town (1962), as well as films including Dastaan, Post Box 999, Hatim Tai and Ustadon Ke Ustad (1963). The Indian Express reported that Ustadon Ke Ustad was her last screen appearance.
