Robert Pattinson and Suki Waterhouse were reported to be engaged on December 22, 2023, but neither was quoted publicly confirming the news in the reports. The engagement claim came from unnamed sources cited by People and Entertainment Tonight; the coverage also noted Waterhouse had been seen wearing a ring in London. Its designer and other identifying details were not reported.
What was reported about the engagement?
On December 22, 2023, ELLE reported that a source had confirmed the couple’s engagement to People. UPI also reported the news, citing People and Entertainment Tonight. Neither account presented a direct announcement from Pattinson or Waterhouse, so the careful description is that they were reported to be engaged.
The reports linked the news to Waterhouse being seen with a ring on her left hand in London. They did not identify the ring’s designer, brand, model, or seller, and did not establish wedding plans.
What did the couple say publicly?
No named person is directly quoted confirming the engagement in the cited coverage. A separate remark by Waterhouse at a performance in November 2023 was about her pregnancy, not an engagement: ELLE reported that she told the audience, “I’m extra sparkly today because I thought it might distract you from something else that’s going on.”

Pattinson has also spoken about keeping his relationship private. In a 2019 interview with The Sunday Times, quoted by ELLE, he said: “If you let people in, it devalues what love is. If a stranger on the street asked you about your relationship, you’d think it extremely rude. If you put up a wall, it ends better.” That comment was about privacy and should not be treated as confirmation of the later engagement report.
Relationship timeline
- 2018: Waterhouse later said she first met Pattinson at a game night in Los Angeles, according to Entertainment Tonight’s 2024 timeline, which attributed the account to her British Vogue interview.
- November 2023: Waterhouse announced that she was expecting a child during a performance in Mexico, as recounted by ELLE and Entertainment Tonight.
- December 22, 2023: News outlets reported the engagement based on unnamed-source accounts.
- 2024: Entertainment Tonight’s timeline says the couple welcomed a daughter.
- July 2026: An Associated Press interview about Waterhouse’s music and parenthood referred to Pattinson as her partner and discussed their daughter. It did not say whether they had married.
Are they married now?
The available reporting cited here does not establish whether Pattinson and Waterhouse married. The AP interview published in July 2026 refers to Pattinson as Waterhouse’s partner but does not address a wedding or state their current marital status. It would therefore be inaccurate to present either a marriage or a continuing engagement as confirmed by these sources.
