The controller was offered as a sweepstakes prize alongside the promotion for Deadpool & Wolverine. A separate Deadpool-themed controller holder featured in a limited purchase promotion; it was an accessory, not the giveaway controller.
What was the Deadpool “Cheeky Controller”?
Xbox described it as a custom Xbox Wireless Controller with the red-and-black design of Deadpool’s tactical suit on the front and a sculpted rear inspired by his physique. The July 17, 2024 announcement was authored by Marcos Waltenberg, Xbox General Manager of Global Partnerships & Consumer Products. Xbox called it the “Cheeky Controller” and said it “channels Deadpool’s buns of steel in its firm (yet surprisingly comfortable) grip.” That comfort line was Xbox promotional copy, not the result of independent ergonomic testing. Xbox’s announcement tied the design to the then-upcoming Marvel Studios film Deadpool & Wolverine.
Could you buy the controller?
Xbox did not announce the custom controller for ordinary sale; it was a contest collectible. Contemporaneous coverage by Numerama, published July 18, 2024, likewise reported that it would not be commercially sold. The sources do not establish a retail price, production quantity, or current resale market.
How did the 2024 sweepstakes work?
Xbox’s announcement said people aged 18 and older around the world could enter by following Xbox on X and reposting its official sweepstakes post. The campaign is historical; those instructions do not indicate that entry is still open. The cheeky controller was one of several custom Xbox hardware prizes. Other prizes included a Deadpool-inspired Xbox Series X with a stand and foam katana props, plus two Xbox Wireless Controllers. Xbox Wire has the original campaign details.

Xbox limited that offer to North America and Canada. The Elite controller was the qualifying purchase, and the Cable Guys holder was the bonus—not the custom Cheeky Controller. The announcement described the promotion.

A holder is a separate product category from a playable controller.
