It is not evidence that Disney permanently closed a theme park, and the video’s $500,000 framing is not a verified Disney rental fee.
What happened in the MrBeast video?
In MrBeast’s “$1 vs $500,000 Date”, published June 7, 2025 according to an episode index, Jimmy Donaldson says that Disney reserved an entire park for the final date. The video presents the experience as a private romantic outing involving Donaldson, his fiancée Thea Booysen, and a group. Its narration calls the arrangement “for the first time in history”; that is the creator’s claim, not an independently established historical fact.

WDW News Today’s coverage of the event places activity across Disneyland Resort parks and reports a private viewing of “World of Color Happiness” at Disney California Adventure. That describes a private event, not a permanent park shutdown.
Did Disney charge $500,000 to rent the park?
The $500,000 is the video’s advertised date budget or framing. The available coverage does not verify that Disney charged that amount, or any particular amount, for a park rental. No itemized bill or official Disney confirmation of the price for this specific event is established in the cited sources. It is therefore more accurate to say the video depicts a $500,000 date than to call $500,000 a confirmed Disney rental price. Times of India coverage also repeats the framing without establishing an official rental fee.

Does Disney ever close a park early for private events?
Yes, Disney parks can close early for private or Cast Member-exclusive events. Disney-affiliated planDisney guidance says Magic Kingdom was scheduled to close at 6 p.m. on August 14, 2021, for a private event, and notes that Walt Disney World parks can also close early for Cast Member-exclusive events. That separate example shows that an early close for an event is possible; it does not establish the arrangements for MrBeast’s Disneyland date or mean the public can book an entire park.

A private event can limit public access during a specified period while the park continues to operate for the event’s guests. The video and coverage support a private date experience and event activity; they do not establish a permanent closure. The available sources also do not establish a general public booking route or a price for reserving an entire Disney park.
