Pokémon Center Japan announced a life-size Gardevoir plush in 2025: a roughly 160 × 65 × 42 cm, 5 kg Psychic-type Pokémon plush priced at ¥49,500 at launch. The scale prompted jokes online, including one widely shared reaction that called it “certainly a choice.”
What Pokémon Center announced
The plush was part of PSYCHO CYBER, a merchandise collection themed around Psychic-type Pokémon. PocketMonsters.net reported on January 31, 2025, that sales through Pokémon Center Online in Japan were scheduled to begin on February 6 at 10:00 JST. The report identified the item by product code 4521329424057 and gave a tax-included launch price of ¥49,500. That is the announced historical price, not a current price or resale estimate. PocketMonsters.net’s product report cited the official Pokémon Center Online listing.
How large is the plush?
The reported dimensions are approximately 160 × 65 × 42 cm, and the reported weight is approximately 5,000 g. The source gives dimensions without establishing which measurement corresponds to height, so these figures are best treated as the listed overall size rather than a confirmed standing height. Reported materials are polyester, polyurethane, PE, and POM.
PocketMonsters.net’s February 1, 2025 account of the collection says the plush’s arms and legs can be adjusted for simple poses. It also reported that the collection would not be available through the Amazon.co.jp Pokémon Store. That detail applies to the collection’s launch distribution; it does not establish whether independent marketplace sellers later listed this particular plush. Read the PSYCHO CYBER collection report.

Why “that was a choice” became the reaction
A life-size, human-shaped Pokémon plush is an unusual scale for a collectible, and the promotional image gave people a striking visual to joke about. Know Your Meme records Pokémon news account @JoeMerrick reacting on January 31, 2025: “Oh my… The Pokémon Center in Japan is doing a life size Gardevoir plush. That’s certainly a choice.” The account’s line was a personal reaction, not an official Pokémon statement or a survey of fans. Know Your Meme’s page on the life-sized Gardevoir plush documents that post and later jokes.

The available product report documents a planned Japan launch in February 2025, but does not verify current inventory, authorized sellers outside Japan, or current marketplace listings. Check Pokémon Center Japan and any seller’s listing directly before treating a listing as current or official; the historical price and Amazon.co.jp Pokémon Store exclusion do not establish present availability.
