What did Zuckerberg’s shirt say?
Zuckerberg wore the custom black T-shirt at Meta Connect in Menlo Park on September 25, 2024. The words across it were “Aut Zuck aut nihil.” TechCrunch and Reuters both identified the shirt and its wording in coverage published that day.

The phrase adapts “aut Caesar aut nihil,” commonly rendered in English as “either Caesar or nothing.” Replacing “Caesar” with “Zuck” makes the line a self-referential slogan: “either Zuck or nothing.” Some coverage renders the joke as “all Zuck or all nothing.”
Why did a Latin slogan draw attention?
The joke depends on the contrast between an ancient imperial allusion and Zuckerberg’s nickname. TechCrunch placed the shirt among other classical phrases he has worn, including “pathei mathos” and “Carthago delenda est.” The publication read the Caesar reference as deliberately grand and connected it to Zuckerberg’s public image and Meta’s ambitions; that is an interpretation of the styling, not a confirmed statement of his intent.

The shirt appeared during Meta’s annual product event, where Zuckerberg also presented a working prototype of the company’s augmented-reality glasses. The event provides context for the outfit, but the Latin wordplay stands on its own.

No source cited here identifies Zuckerberg’s original shirt as a retail product. Reuters described it as custom, while TechCrunch reported that Zuckerberg had been designing clothes for himself. In the latter’s account of his comments on the Acquired podcast, he said: “I started working with people to design some of my own clothes,” and added, “I figured, you know, look, we’re going to design eyewear, we’re going to design other stuff that people wear — let’s get good at this.”
A Redbubble listing uses the exact phrase, but it is a third-party listing. Its existence does not establish that the item is Zuckerberg’s original or that Meta endorses it. Current seller availability can change.
