The episode was hosted by Shane Gillis and is listed by NBC as Season 50, Episode 14.
What happens in the cold open
The sketch reimagines the Oval Office confrontation between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, then has Myers’ Musk interrupt the exchange. TV Insider describes Musk’s entrance as a hyperactive, glitchy interruption; TheWrap also characterizes the cold open as a reworking of the Trump, JD Vance and Zelenskyy meeting. These are descriptions of a comedy sketch, not a transcript or account of the real meeting. NBC’s episode listing identifies the broadcast; contemporaneous accounts from TV Insider and TheWrap describe the scene.
Who plays whom
- Mike Myers plays Elon Musk.
- James Austin Johnson plays Donald Trump.
- Mikey Day plays Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
- Bowen Yang plays JD Vance.
- Marcello Hernández plays Marco Rubio.
The character identifications are reported by TV Insider and TheWrap.
The lines that define Myers’ Musk
In TV Insider’s account, Myers’ Musk asks Trump, “Donald, what are you doing in my office?” and then says, “You know I’m the president now. I’m kidding! I’m kidding. OK. Maybe not, maybe not.” The joke presents the character as asserting control over the room.

Later, the character addresses claims about federal firings: “They’re saying I’m firing people with no cause,” followed by, “But I do have cause. It’s ’cause I feel like it!” These are lines spoken by Myers’ Musk in the sketch, not statements by the real Musk. TV Insider’s recap reports the quoted dialogue.
The visual gag and the impression
The Guardian’s review describes Myers’ character entering in a T-shirt and jeans, waving a chainsaw and boasting about federal firings. Those details belong to the sketch and the reviewer’s description, not to an account of real events. The Guardian also frames the scene as satire.

Former SNL writer Robert Smigel praised the impression, saying, “Mike’s was much more broad, and Mike looks much more like him.” LateNighter reports that Smigel recalled suggesting the role to Myers around the SNL50 weekend; the account does not establish that the suggestion alone led to Myers being cast. Smigel’s remark is his opinion about the performance. LateNighter’s report also describes the impression as drawing on Musk’s self-belief and periodic glitches.
