Kevin Bloody Wilson’s career began with a homemade cassette sold to friends and local audiences at pubs, clubs and by mail order. More than four decades later, his songs also circulate through TikTok, where a 2025 profile reported an AI-generated baby likeness singing his material. The tools changed; the basic aim he described—to reach people who need a laugh—did not.
How did Kevin Bloody Wilson get started?
Wilson, whose name is Dennis Bryant, began by writing bawdy songs for friends and recording them on cassette. In a 2025 PerthNow profile, he recalled recording his first cassette around the pubs and clubs in Kalgoorlie. He said friends promised to buy it—and followed through.
The debut, Your Average Australian Yobbo, was released in 1984. PerthNow reported that it sold 22,000 copies through live shows and mail order. That is a figure reported by the profile, not an independently audited sales total.
How did the cassette reach listeners?
The early distribution model was direct: Wilson performed for local audiences, sold tapes at shows and sent them to customers who ordered by mail. Each performance could introduce the songs to potential buyers, while mail order extended the audience beyond the room. The approach connected a small-scale recording to a recognizable audience without depending on a large retail network.

The album later appeared on LP, and the catalogue includes releases in cassette, LP and CD formats. A discography reference also lists a 2023 CD/digital release; it is a format snapshot, not a complete guide to current retailer stock or every edition. The discography listing is useful for tracing formats, but the 22,000 sales figure comes from PerthNow.
What changed as his audience grew?
Physical releases and touring remained part of a career that also found newer ways to reach listeners. In August 2025, PerthNow reported 310,000 TikTok followers and said some of Wilson’s clips had millions of views. Those are figures from the profile’s publication period, not a current follower count or an exact view total for any particular clip.

The contrast is less a simple switch from cassette to social media than an expansion of distribution. A tape sold at a show was a physical keepsake and a direct transaction; a short video can travel beyond the venue and be encountered by people who have never bought an album or seen the act live. PerthNow described audiences spanning generations, but that is the profile’s account, not a measured breakdown of his audience.
Is the Kevin Bloody Wilson baby video AI?
PerthNow’s 2025 profile described a TikTok video featuring an AI-generated baby likeness of Wilson singing one of his songs. The report identifies the baby persona as AI-created; it does not establish that AI wrote the original song or that the clip represents an AI-generated musical performance of the underlying recording.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What has stayed consistent in his approach?
In the 2025 interview, Wilson described his audience in deliberately informal terms: “Doesn’t matter where you are in the world, the target audience is just a bunch of mates.” The line links the local origins of the cassette to the wider reach of social platforms: the route to listeners can change while the imagined audience remains personal.

That account dates to 2016 and should not be read as a verified description of his current process.
