Bowen Yang confirmed that Pfannee appears in Wicked: For Good, but his “just desserts” tease does not reveal what happens to the character. In a Collider video interview at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2025, Yang described Pfannee’s part as a “fun capacity,” offering a hint rather than a plot explanation.
What did Bowen Yang say about Pfannee in Wicked: For Good?
As quoted in Nina Starner’s February 16, 2025 report for SlashFilm, Yang said: “I am in ‘Wicked [For Good] in a … fun capacity. I think my character gets his just desserts.”

The remark confirms Yang’s participation as Pfannee in the sequel. “Just desserts” is Yang’s playful tease; it does not specify Pfannee’s fate, describe a particular scene, or establish whether the character faces punishment or some other outcome.
Who are Pfannee and ShenShen?
Yang plays Pfannee, while Bronwyn James plays ShenShen. In Wicked: Part One, they are Galinda’s Shiz University acquaintances and, in Yang’s description, act like her “publicists,” egging on some of her less admirable behavior before she befriends Elphaba.

Yang described their influence this way: “They’re motivating all these nefarious things Glinda ends up doing in the film, even though she is good.” That dynamic gives the characters a comic role around Glinda, but his later tease does not say how their relationship changes in the sequel.
How did Pfannee and ShenShen know Galinda?
A reported deleted scene from Wicked: Part One offers a little background: Pfannee says the three met at a “twirling academy.” The detail supplies context for their acquaintance, but it is from a deleted scene, not an on-screen explanation in the released film.

What the tease does—and does not—reveal
Yang’s comment points to Pfannee returning and hints that the character may get a comic or fitting outcome. It does not reveal the mechanics of that outcome or provide a fuller account of Pfannee’s arc. SlashFilm published its report in February 2025, before the film’s planned November 2025 release; that interview alone cannot establish later plot details or current viewing availability.
