What was John Singleton’s net worth?
The most widely repeated figure is about $35 million. TMZ reported it in 2019 as an estimate of Singleton’s broader estate, and Celebrity Net Worth later listed $35 million as his wealth at death. Neither source provides a final accounting that establishes this as his confirmed net worth. TMZ’s 2019 report and Celebrity Net Worth’s estimate should therefore be read as reported estimates, not audited totals.
Why do reports give different estate values?
The reported numbers refer to different proceedings and scopes. A court-related figure, a probate value, and a broader estimate are not necessarily measuring the same pool of property, and the available reporting does not reconcile them.

What the figures do—and do not—establish
The $1.4 million court-document figure
CBS News, reporting for the Associated Press on April 26, 2019, said court documents showed an estate value of $1.4 million during conservatorship proceedings. The same report described business deals Singleton was working on and a prospective settlement he was expected to sign around April 30. The papers reportedly warned that failing to sign could cause financial loss, but the report gave no settlement amount and did not confirm the outcome. The $1.4 million figure is thus a reported snapshot in a particular proceeding, not proof of the total value of his wealth at death.

The $3.8 million probate figure
TMZ reported that the will filed in court was written in 1993 and that the probate estate was reportedly valued at $3.8 million. Probate generally concerns property handled through the probate process; that value alone does not establish the worth of every asset Singleton held. TMZ noted that assets held in a trust might not appear in the will, offering one possible reason a probate figure could differ from a broader estimate. The reports do not provide a complete accounting that verifies how much, if anything, falls outside the probate estate.
The later property listing
A 2021 Trellis.Law docket listing shows a $2 million value for a subject property in a probate-inventory context, while the available excerpt says “No inventory yet.” It is evidence of a property value in that filing context, not a final estate inventory or total.

Was $35 million confirmed as Singleton’s net worth?
No. About $35 million is a commonly repeated estimate, but the reviewed public reporting does not establish a final total of probate and non-probate assets, liabilities, intellectual-property interests, and later receipts after estate administration. The $1.4 million and $3.8 million figures should not be treated as competing final answers to the same question, nor should the $35 million estimate be presented as confirmed.
