Marie Claire later reported that the look was temporary, so “shortest haircut yet” describes the appearance, not a confirmed haircut.
What Kim Kardashian’s pixie look was—and wasn’t
At the Alaïa show, Kardashian appeared with short black hair, wispy bangs and a tapered nape. Vogue’s Anna Cafolla described the style as recalling her mother, Kris Jenner, as well as Jean Seberg and Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday. The comparison is Vogue’s visual description, not a statement from Kardashian.
Vogue initially left open whether the style was a wig. Marie Claire later reported that Kardashian had not chopped off her hair and pointed to hairstylist Chris Appleton’s follow-up on Instagram as evidence the look was temporary. The coverage does not establish the exact hairpiece or styling method used.
Why it was called her “shortest” look
Vogue called the pixie her “shortest chop ever,” but that is an editorial superlative, not a verifiable account of every hairstyle she has worn. Kardashian has appeared in shorter-looking styles before, including a jaw-brushing bob documented by Allure in September 2019. That bob, cut by Appleton, had a center part and ends that curved under.

Her other notable styles have included a bleached-blonde Marcel-wave bob, a wet-look pastel-pink cut above the shoulders, and variations on bobs and lobs. At Balenciaga couture in July 2025, she wore a bob styled with kiss curls and jumbo clips. The 2025 pixie look stood apart for its close-cropped shape and tapered neckline, but it was not proof of a permanent cut.
How to try a similar look without cutting your hair
If you want to see how a pixie might suit you, Marie Claire suggests trying a wig before committing to a short cut. A black pixie wig can help preview the overall silhouette; the available reporting does not identify a brand or confirm that Kardashian wore a particular wig.
