Not in any simple sense. Jordyn Woods described the backlash after the 2019 Tristan Thompson controversy as painful and isolating. She later said that taking responsibility and rebuilding helped her grow stronger. But the clearest career example often linked to the episode—a collaboration with Eylure lashes—was already in development before the scandal became public. The evidence supports a story about a difficult turning point and Woods’s own account of personal growth, not proof that the scandal created career success or that fans broadly considered it beneficial.
What happened between Jordyn Woods and Tristan Thompson?
On a Red Table Talk episode published March 1, 2019, Woods gave her account of an encounter at Thompson’s home after a night out. She said she went there with a group and later recognized that she had not considered how being there could affect someone close to her.
Woods said Thompson kissed her on the lips as she was leaving. She denied a passionate kiss, tongue, or making out, and denied giving him a lap dance. She said she was drunk but remembered the evening. These are Woods’s statements about a private encounter, not independently verified facts.
Woods also said she spoke with Kylie Jenner and Khloé Kardashian the next morning and initially told Kardashian that nothing had happened. She explained that she had been trying to forget that part of the story. In the interview, she said, “I don’t think he’s wrong either, because I allowed myself to be in this position.”

Why did Woods face criticism?
The controversy drew scrutiny because Woods was close friends with Jenner and connected to Kardashian and Thompson. Contemporary coverage described divided reactions: some observers questioned Woods’s account and whether the interview amounted to a sufficient apology. That is different from saying everyone reacted the same way.
Woods later told Cosmopolitan UK that the online hate was hard to ignore. She said that repeatedly searching her name exposed her to toxic comments and criticized people who post insults without considering the person receiving them. “These are real people, with real lives,” she said. Her account describes her experience; it does not measure the scale of the abuse or establish a consensus among fans.

Did the scandal help Woods’s career?
The available evidence does not show that the scandal generated a new business opportunity. A useful example is Woods’s Eylure lash collaboration, but its timing matters.
The Eylure collection was already in development
In March 2019, Woods was promoting a three-style lash set with Eylure in London. Bravo reported that she described working on the project for more than nine months. That places the collaboration’s development before the scandal became public. It is evidence of career continuity during a difficult news cycle, not evidence that the controversy caused the deal. The report’s speculation that heightened visibility might bring further business opportunities was not confirmation that those opportunities occurred.

Attention is not the same as lasting benefit
The same 2019 coverage reported an increase of about one million Instagram followers, but that was a dated report, not an independently verified measure of durable career benefit. Follower attention alone cannot establish that a scandal helped someone professionally. The sources cited here do not verify Woods’s current career status or whether the Eylure collection remains available.
What did Woods say she gained from the experience?
In a 2020 interview recap, Glamour reported that Woods described withdrawing from people, feeling isolated, and reflecting on what she had done and how she could take responsibility. She also said that rebuilding was possible and that the experience had strengthened her. “The amount of strength I’ve gained in this year alone, nothing else could have shaped me to the person I am today,” she said.

That is Woods’s retrospective interpretation: she said she grew through the aftermath, not that the scandal was good overall or that its harms were outweighed. The same 2020 report noted that she made her relationship with basketball player Karl-Anthony Towns public on the day of the interview. That is a dated biographical detail, not evidence of her present relationship status.

Some individual online comments used that kind of language. For example, wording surfaced in a December 2021 Reddit discussion in r/KUWTK included “I love this Tristan drama for jordyn woods” and “Jordyn Woods must feel great rn.” Those are isolated comments, not polling or proof of broad fan agreement. The contemporaneous coverage instead reflects contested reactions.
