It is not publicly confirmed whether Dennis and Randy Quaid are still in direct contact. In August 2024, Dennis said he loved and missed his brother, but that statement does not establish whether they were speaking. Reporting at the time described their relationship as complicated.
What Dennis Quaid has said about Randy
In an August 2024 interview with Patrick Bet-David, Dennis said, “All I can say is that I really love my brother, and I miss my brother.” He also said Randy “could have like a great third act.” The remarks, reported by The Daily Caller, convey affection and hope for Randy. They do not say whether the brothers were in direct communication.

What reporting says about their relationship
An August 2024 Washington Post profile characterized the relationship as complicated. It also reported that a response to a request for comment said, “Randy has nothing to do with and has no actual personal contact or relationship to the person you are requesting comment on.” The profile did not identify who sent that response, and its wording refers to the person requesting comment—not to Dennis. It therefore cannot be treated as evidence that Randy had cut off contact with his brother.
Earlier tension and reconciliation
The brothers’ relationship has had difficult periods. A 1987 Los Angeles Times account described tension while Dennis and Randy worked together on Sam Shepard’s play True West. Dennis recounted an intense argument followed by a conversation about why they hated and loved, envied, and admired one another. The article presented their collaboration as a turning point at that time; it does not establish their present-day relationship.

What can be concluded
The public record cited here establishes that Dennis expressed love for Randy in 2024 and that a contemporaneous profile described their relationship as complicated. It does not verify whether they were in contact then or whether they are in contact now. A definite yes or no would go beyond what these reports show.
