In a September 2026 interview, he said one record was finished and another was still in progress—but called the finished record’s identity “a surprise.” He did not confirm that it was the solo album he described in 2025, or give a release date.
What Springsteen said about the finished solo album
In a Rolling Stone interview published June 20, 2025, Springsteen said, “I have a record finished,” identified it as a solo record, and added, “I would imagine it will come out in ’26 sometime.” He did not elaborate. That is the basis for reports that he had finished a new solo album and expected a possible 2026 release.

What the 2026 update confirms—and leaves open
In a Rolling Stone interview published in September 2026, Springsteen said, “I’m currently working on a couple of records. I did finish one, and it is done.” He said he hoped to finish the other record and release it first because of its material. He described the finished record as “not time-relevant,” meaning it could come out at any time.
Asked whether the finished record was a solo or E Street Band album, Springsteen replied, “It’s a surprise.” He offered no date, saying, “I do not right now. Hopefully sooner than later, of course.” The interview confirms that he had one finished record and was working on another; it does not establish whether the finished record is the solo album he discussed in 2025.

When will Bruce Springsteen release a new album?
There is no confirmed release date for the unnamed finished record. The 2025 comment was an expectation that it might come out sometime in 2026, not an announced schedule. In the September 2026 interview, Springsteen gave no date and said he hoped to release the in-progress record first. His comments do not establish when either record will be released.
Is Bruce Springsteen’s new album a solo album?
The record described in the 2025 interview was explicitly identified by Springsteen as a solo record. But in 2026, he did not confirm that the finished record was the same one; when asked if it was solo or an E Street Band record, he said it was a surprise. Its identity remains unconfirmed.

What has not been announced
The reviewed official Bruce Springsteen site lists established releases and artist news, but does not identify a new album matching this report. The reviewed sources do not establish a title, track list, cover art, preorder, release date, or physical format for the unnamed finished record. Columbia Records is Springsteen’s long-standing label, according to Sony Music Group; that history is not confirmation of a release plan or edition.

Tracks II: The Lost Albums is a separate Springsteen release, not the unnamed finished record discussed in the interviews. The Associated Press described it as an 83-song box set with a 100-page hardcover book. Those details refer to that existing collection, not to the new album.
