Its entries range from childhood and family events to later experiences interpreted through media accounts. The word “traumatic” is the roundup’s framing, not a clinical assessment.
What the 15-item roundup covers
Martha Sorren’s 2020 CafeMom article, “15 Traumatic Events Prince William & Prince Harry Had to Endure”, gathers reported episodes and public reflections from across the brothers’ lives. It is a secondary roundup: some entries draw on statements or books, while others rely on reporting or the writer’s interpretation. The accounts should not all be treated as independently verified events or as proof of a specific psychological condition.

The roundup’s list includes more than 15 themes in its discussion, and some are broad experiences rather than discrete, independently established incidents. Its title’s “15” should not be read as a roster of 15 celebrity survivors.
Diana’s death and the funeral
Diana’s death is central to the roundup. It quotes Harry reflecting on the decision that he and William would walk behind their mother’s coffin: “I don’t think any child should be asked to do that, under any circumstances. I don’t think it would happen today.” It also reproduces William’s description of the walk as “one of the hardest things I have ever done.” CafeMom attributes both remarks to ABC News; the wording here is as reproduced in the roundup.

What the article says about Harry’s military experience
The roundup discusses Harry’s later comments about distressing images connected with his military service. It explicitly notes that he did not label the experience PTSD. The account therefore does not establish a PTSD diagnosis, and the article’s use of “traumatic” should not be mistaken for one.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A first-person account from Harry
For Harry’s own account of grief and other experiences, Prince Harry’s memoir Spare is a relevant further read. Its publisher describes the book as covering his mother’s death, grief, military service, and mental-health struggles. A memoir offers the author’s perspective; it is not independent verification of every account in a secondary roundup.
