Why the case has more than one procedural thread
The archive distinguishes the U.S. case from proceedings in Brazil. One clip’s title says the U.S. Embassy considered the case resolved; its description says Fantástico’s reporters explain why Bonetti was never arrested in Brazil. Separately, a 58-second clip reports that an investigation into alleged abandonment of an incapable person had not been concluded at the time of that report. It says a police delegate intended to hear Bonetti and request a mental-health examination. Those descriptions concern distinct matters, and the archived 2000 São Paulo inquiry should not be treated as proof that every related investigation had ended.
