The preview frames his return as a chance to revisit questions left open by the end of The Amazing World of Gumball—but it does not explain what Rob experienced in the meantime or resolve that unfinished story.
Who is back, and what does the sneak peek show?
The returning villain is Rob. In the Collider excerpt describing the exclusive preview, Gumball and Darwin fall into Rob’s trap after he emerges from the Void with a powerful new appearance. That is the central reveal: Rob has returned as an active threat, rather than merely being mentioned as part of the show’s past. Collider’s Season 2 sneak peek coverage presents the moment as a setup for answers about unresolved events from the earlier series.
Why does Rob’s return matter?
Rob’s return connects the new season to the unresolved ending of The Amazing World of Gumball. The preview points toward that continuity, but the available description does not spell out what happened during the intervening period, how Rob emerged from the Void, or what his new appearance means. Those details should be treated as open questions, not as revealed plot points.
What else is Season 2 about?
The announced season synopsis promises more surreal stories in Elmore, including several distinct comic premises:
