Who are the new characters?
Gary De’Snake, voiced by Ke Huy Quan, is the newcomer whose arrival sets the mystery in motion. Disney’s official trailer description also introduces characters connected to the Partners in Crisis counseling program: Nibbles, voiced by Fortune Feimster, and quokka therapist Dr. Fuzzby, voiced by Quinta Brunson.

Is it as good as the first Zootopia?
The evidence supports a qualified yes for viewers who most want more of Judy and Nick together: the official premise keeps their partnership at the center, and Coyle’s AP characterization calls the duo “still winning.” The qualification matters, though. Coyle also calls the film “more timid and tame,” suggesting that the sequel may not feel as daring as the 2016 original. That is one critic’s judgment, not a measure of critical consensus.

A fair comparison turns on more than returning characters. Consider whether the new mystery feels as fresh as the original’s, whether Judy and Nick’s partnership changes in meaningful ways, whether the newcomers matter to the case, and whether the new locations make the city feel more expansive rather than simply busier. The available sources establish the sequel’s premise and one reviewer’s broad assessment; they do not support a scene-by-scene comparison or a wider consensus claim.

How well did Zootopia 2 perform?
The film’s commercial and audience figures are strong, but they should be read as dated reports from Disney rather than as independent measures of quality or live totals.
