That shows a change in the conversation—not a confirmed casting decision.
What Mark said when Kelsey first asked
On March 8, 2024, Bachelor Nation reported that Kelsey asked her father, Mark Anderson, whether he wanted to become the next Golden Bachelor. Mark laughed and replied, “No, I’m too young!” The report also described him as nervous about making his television debut. Bachelor Nation’s March 8 report recounts the exchange and includes the TikTok video.
How the conversation changed
Later that month, Kelsey encouraged Mark to stay open to appearing on The Golden Bachelorette. In a March 28 interview, she said, “I told him just to be open to it.” Her encouragement concerned joining the show as a contestant, rather than becoming its lead. Bachelor Nation’s March 28 interview covered her and Joey Graziadei’s comments.
Mark joined Joan Vassos’s season
Mark did appear on The Golden Bachelorette, with Joan Vassos as the lead. On August 27, 2024, TheWrap reported on a premiere teaser in which Kelsey introduced her father to Joan. TheWrap’s report describes the introduction.

Joan sent him home before hometowns
In an October 23, 2024 interview, Us Weekly reported that Joan sent Mark home before the hometown episode. Kelsey said he had grown through the experience and that Joan had stronger connections with other contestants. She told the outlet, “I think that my dad has grown so much through this journey of The Golden Bachelorette.”
What Kelsey said about him becoming the Golden Bachelor
After Mark’s time as a contestant, Kelsey told Us Weekly she would support him if he wanted to become the next Golden Bachelor: “If that’s what he wants to do, I would fully support him.” The statement was about her support for the possibility, not an announcement that Mark had agreed to take the role or been selected. Us Weekly’s October 23 interview reports her comments and his outcome on Joan’s season.

Did Mark change his mind?
The available statements suggest the possibility became less of a joke and more open to discussion after Mark’s experience on The Golden Bachelorette. But the evidence does not establish that Mark himself later said he wanted to be the Golden Bachelor. What Kelsey made clear was that she would support him if he chose to pursue it. These interviews, published in 2024, do not confirm a later casting decision.
