Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY brings characters, items, and moments from all 16 mainline FINAL FANTASY games into a Magic set. Wizards of the Coast officially debuted it at PAX East on May 10, 2025, with a presentation about the set’s mechanics, artwork, and other details. Wizards announced that a recording would be available on demand, but its announcement does not confirm the video was two hours long.
What was the FINAL FANTASY Magic presentation?
Wizards of the Coast scheduled the set debut for PAX East on May 10, 2025. Its preview announcement said the presentation would cover mechanics, artwork, and more, and that viewers could watch the stream live or view it afterward on demand. The announcement does not establish the recording’s exact length, so “two-hour video” should be treated as an unverified description rather than a confirmed runtime. Wizards’ preview announcement
The presentation was a preview event, not the release date. The original global tabletop release followed on June 13, 2025.
What is in the Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY set?
The collaboration draws from all 16 mainline FINAL FANTASY games, adapting their characters, items, and memorable moments as Magic cards. Wizards’ product page presents the set as a cross-series release rather than a set focused on a single game. Official FINAL FANTASY product page

The collecting guide distinguishes three card groupings: FIN for the main set, FIC for the Commander set, and FCA for FINAL FANTASY Through the Ages. It lists 309 cards in the main set and 64 in Through the Ages; these are counts for those respective groupings, not a claim that the collaboration contains only those cards. Wizards’ collecting guide

How does set legality work?
The set code matters when checking a card’s format legality. Wizards’ collecting guide says FIN cards are Standard-legal, while FIC and FCA cards are legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage. A card in FIC or FCA may also have additional legality in formats where that same card had already appeared. Check the individual card’s current legality rather than assuming every card shares the main set’s status.
